But the  "Tent" isn't  a spare part it is a whole thing!!!! I don't get this at all!!!!!

If I had managed to ruin my tent because I had made a bad judgement, over whatever. Then that is down to me, and certainly not any fault of anyones but mine!

I agree it is a superb tent. But again, as you seem to keep chipping in with useless information, you would expect to be able to sort out a problem with a tent a year on and not be left with a product you have to completely replace. Nugget

Not the point though, aftersales for spares is vital to a camping product you would have thought?

If i spend £500 on anything that is in one piece and i damage it then i would expect to have to buy a new one.I agree after sales spares is vital but how can a whole flysheet complete with SIG and toggles etc etc be considered a spare part when it in fact it is almost the whole product.Even if it was available as a spare as pointed out the cost would be very high.

My house/garage/shed contents are all covered including all my camping equipment even when we are away using it.I made sure it was,not the cheapest policy out there but the investment in camping stuff when you add it all up is quite alot and with 1 gust of wind... Like i said it's worth a phone call to check.

As for outwell sucking because they don't keep whole tents as a spare part i don't think they will be to worried by this as i'm sure their rivals won't be adding whole sig'ed tent fabric only options to their spare parts lists either.

But tents aren't cars!! and tend to come in whole parts all sewn together.

I guess one could always cut a bit out and sew a new bit in

To finish this as some still aren't listening or getting it!

First: I had an issue, not anyone elses fault, and accident, but I just wanted to buy the outer cover which maybe cost half the price of a new tent, that way I don't have to spend the price of a full tent.

Second: The tent was one year and two weeks old so I would have thought I would have been easily able to buy the outer only without guy ropes or anything else for me to re-fit.

Third: Don't do insurance as it rarely pays out so I estimated, as we'd had an Aztec for 7 years which we sold as mint condition before the Montana purchase and had been able to replace a torn flysheet after 7 years albeit with a different colour, and as part of their lieftime warranty.

So, to summarise, it's just over a year old and I just expected to be able to buy an outer. If it was a warranty issue, say a broken zip and I found it two weeks earlier, what would have happened? It took me since August to get this far a week ago as none of the original suppliers or Outwell would even bother to reply as to whether I could buy an outer (flysheet as I? was told by them!). Perhaps it's people like 'Sxis' who think the outer sheet only (as I can re-fit my own guy ropes!) is 95% of the tent, who work for these companies and decline to have a common sense attitude to product longevity or customer loyalty.

Had enough now, I just wanted to get a replacement outer of a reccomendation of a good brand name, not this. Why is there always one with the smiley faces, sarcastic comments and little to contribute on any forum nowadays.
