We'd recommend the Kairos 300/400. The side doors are easier to open in the rain leaving the majority of the interior dry and you can even use a tarp across the width of the tent and with poles hold it up on the door side for a cooking shelter.

The Lichfield Findhorn has the sloped front door which reduces the protected dry area inside the tent when opening the door in the rain, although it is higher spec and has a squarer inner tent than the Kairos.

I believe that the Kairos 300 has proven popular with bikers...

Our friends have the Kyham Freelander - we see loads at bike rallies.

Linky

Unfortunately for my poor OH,  I like to glamp a bit, so we have gone down the trike/trailer route now - see gallery.  Bit more room for fleecies and hot water bottle lol!

Hi Pixie Biker

Do you have a budget to work to?

The Kyham Freelander mentioned above is a great tent but at 10.7kg a little heavy for a solo bike so i'd discount that unless you have a support vehicle or trailer. A mate has one but only takes it to rallies if there is a car to chuck it in.

The Nomad tent also looks great, but I've not seen one in the flesh at any rallies as yet.

I have seen a number of the Vango Kairos 300 and 400's and they look reasonable tents. I do agree with the comment about the side doors.

You also mention that you want to stand up in the tent. how tall are you? and does your partner also want to be able to stand fully in the tent?

One of our tents that we use at rallies alows my wife to stand fully but I have to stoop, which doesn't bother me. It's a Campus Borneo 4, purchased from the Welsh National Bike show a good number of years ago. We got one and so did three other mebers of the bike club.

Although that tent is not available any more I'm sure that with the other bits of information there will be something that fits.

I don't know if it's just me but when I'm at a bike rally I spend as much time looking at the other tents as I do looking at the other bikes

Craig

Hi again,  and thanks for all these replies..   Dfeinitely no trailers,  definitley will be both on the one bike,  definitely not changing the bike either,  DEFINITELY - lol.

Very impressessed with that Tenere expedition tent that William George post a link to up.... looks like a good tent but not that bulky or heavy for the space you get. Nice one

Craig hadn't really thought about the budget yet  - though I'd certainly want to keep it under £300 if possible.  All the same generally I prefer to get what I really want  even if it means waiting while the pennies are saved up rather than compromise too much on quality etc.   As for height, tent needs to allow my OH to stand up staright & he's around 5'10

Trying to keep an open mind now but sort of can't stop looking at that Tenere.,,  !

I picked up a Sunncamp Tarn 300 two years ago, for £100. Really high, not expensive, loads of room to sit if it pees down, and about as big as I could get away with on the bike.
I hope this is of some help to you as I see this model is no longer in their range, but can still be found, new.
