I have just purchased an Arizona 180 from Esvo but still awaiting delivery (over a week now) Their website states that stuff in is stock and normally delivered within 3 days of payment. It will be interesting to know how long your tent takes to arrive. Has anyone else experience of Esvo good or bad?

Update as of 16.00  2/11/11   I have just received the tent via courier and it looks gorgeous. As expected the instructions are in Dutch. Some of it will be down to commonsense and previous experience, but I recommend the Google translation app as very helpful and entertaining at the same time.  I now know that 'nokstok' means ridgepole although there are some bits of the translation which seem ambiguous. Looking forward to an easy pitching experience.

Hi Eric, I have experience of them as I bought a Salamander from them last year.  If I recall correctly, it took about 5 or 6 days to arrive.  It got delivered to the parcel depot in Cambridge and I had to go and pick it up from there.  I would imagine the '3 days' delivery would only really apply to deliveries within Holland, which would seem to be fair enough..?  I found Esvo really good to deal with - had no issues at all - and the tent when it arrived was a work of art

Hope your tent arrives soon!

Hi Dawn, thanks for info and as already said my tent has now arrived. As usual I will have to wait for a change in the weather to try the first pitch. I emailed Esvo to thank them for their good customer service as I was a first time purchaser and a bit nervous about buying from abroad. Have you seen the 'Beduin' tent on their website? They say it will be available in 2-3 weeks to buy via the internet. It looks lovely from the back but cannot see the front in the picture and no idea of price. My wife and I are recent convert to canvas tents as we have had so many bad experiences with the plastic varieties over the years. We are also downsizing to smaller tents in order to carry less, travel light and get away more often especially after we retire next year. Happy camping!

Awww - 799! - they told me it would be 'approx 699'.  That's a disappointment as it means it is going to taken even longer for me to save up enough money to buy it  will have to find some way of earning a bit extra, methinks.  I'll gladly email people pictures of the front if they let me have their email addresses.

Eric - I am glad your tent arrived safely!  I had a look at pics of the Arizona on the Esvo website and I must say it looks a very fine tent indeed  I will look forward to hearing more about it once you have had a chance to pitch it.

Hi Dawn, had a half-hearted attempt at pitching this morning whilst keeping an eye out for the rainclouds. You'd think it would be easy being a ridge style, but the instructions are very ambiguous even after translation into english! Did not manage to finish as the weather looked iffy. I am a tad disappointed to see that the final overall height will only be just over 5' and not 6' as implied in Esvo's description, so no standing room. Never mind, it will only be used for sleeping and sitting and the tarp/canopy I already have will provide standing room for cooking. The quality of the tent looks very good indeed and I just wish I could give it a proper try out. Eventually I will post a full review with pix but that could be some way off, probably not until the New Year at this rate. By the way, the 799 euros Esvo are asking for the Beduin is £689 at today's exchange rate. A lot of money, but could be a good investment and I wish I had seen it before buying the arizona! I can dream..........

Hi Eric, yes that does sound disappointing about the overall height.  On the website it says 190 - 150cm for the Arizona.....has it come up smaller than that?  If it has then I am sure you could go back to them and challenge that point.  My OH is 6'4" so it wouldn't suit us I must say.....our Esvo Salamander is hugely tall, even OH can walk about with plenty of headroom.

Hi Dawn, I take your point re the height of the arizona and possible complaint to Esvo. It would be easier if Esvo were local for returning it, but since the tent was reduced in their sale and cheapish at just over £200 I think I can live with it. I will email them to suggest they amend the description which is misleading, but I don't know whether the Netherlands has trade descriptions/trading standards laws which I could cite.  It has not put me off the tent completely and I would still look at other products Esvo have on their website. I also think it's time I learned a second language - Dutch maybe? Thanks for your interest and help. Further update: the English version of Esvo's website states the arizona is 150-190cm in height, the Dutch and German versions state it is 110-150-110cm. I have emailed them to complain and await a reponse. It really is a case of 'buyer beware'. Yet another update! In the past few minutes Esvo have corrected the English version to read the same but no response to my email. Even my saved info shows the correction. Will they try to wriggle out of this complaint?(the cynic in me is asking) Watch this space....

Crikey...  It DEFINITELY said the height of the Arizona was 190-150, as I said in my previous post above.  I do hope they reply to your email soon!

Hi Dawn, I have just received an email from Esvo who have admitted there was an error on their website. They have also asked if I wish to return the tent, although they hope I don't!  My wife is thoroughly fed up with the hassle and now wants to be rid of it. A pity as it is a lovely well made tent. I have emailed back asking if I am responsible for the cost of return and how much it will be. The other alternative is to offer it for sale here in UK at a reduced price, whichever is the cheaper option. I am still pondering. All this could have been avoided had I been able to see the tent before buying but obviously not an option in this case. It has made me realise there are pitfalls to buying from abroad and it has put me off somewhat. Back to square one.........

Oh dear, I am sorry - what a palaver for you.  But I am glad that Esvo have admitted it was their mistake, which it was of course, and I hope they will make the process of returning it/refunding/or whatever as painless as possible for you.

Yes, there are certainly pitfalls to buying from abroad - indeed, from buying online at all, if you haven't seen what you are buying 'in the flesh' .....it's just a shame that there are so few shops where you can see a good selection of nice quality canvas tents on display.

This is the last time I am posting about Esvo, I promise! I want to set the record straight after posting my review of the Arizona 180, which at the time of writing was completely accurate and honest on my part. Since then I have been offered a full refund for both the tent and my return postage and Esvo have been very honest in admitting their fault and are not quibbling about anything. I am delighted to say that they have shown a level of customer service not always experienced with UK companies. Potential buyers should not be prejudiced because of my experience - it was an unfortunate and hopefully one-off event. I would certainly buy from them again in the future as the quality of their tents is exceptional.

Ooo, Esvo has added a floor plan showing a sizable awning/canopy.
