I love the idea of this tent system. I've looked at the reviews on this site and they seem great too! But, my concern is that apart from the deals available (e.g. Here) I can't see how to buy the additional pods etc.

What else is needed/recommended on top of the package deal (groundsheets/ inner tents etc?)
Where can we buy the addition pods from?
Any other hints or tips?

My concern is that as there seem to big deals on it that it's been discontinued?

hi

don't wish to put you off the idea, but have you thought about the size of it,and fitting it onto campsites?if so and not a problem for where you go to stay great.

Try eBay as I have seen this on sale yesterday:

Ridgi-Pod Classic Porch Inner

Also try contacting Khyam directly to see if they have any in stock. Also check out the Khyam's own package deal on Ridgi-Pod while you are there.

Concur with wongers about concerns with the size of the tent - it would be considered as a large tent by a lot of campsite, and would incur additional pitch fee.

However, the design features and concepts are great IMHO.

Cheers for tips!

#Wongers - Very good point! Our Coleman Bispace 400 is still holding out and is perfect for most trips, but we are looking for a big 'super tent' for those longer trips or where space isn't a problem. The Khyam does look like a marquee of a tent. nI one review someone said it took them 3 hrs to pitch, so not exactly a weekend tent :-)

#dk168 - thanks for the idea. I've emailed Kyam directly to see what they say!

This tent was discontinued a few years ago and it's virtually impossible to find the bedroom pods now (Khyam don't have any - I emailed ages ago) and very few retailers stock Khyam stuff now (Somerset Camping and JR are about the only two now, aren't they?).

Think there's been a bit of demise of the big, spread domes. And this is one BIG spread dome! I seem to recall reading reports of leaking bedroom pod zips (might be worth doing a search on here for old threads?).

They used to do lots of extras for this tent, such as screen doors and porch inners (as per ebay link) and link attachments and sun canopies. A tent with single bedroom pod will still be a biggish tent, but the shape will mean it can still fit on a standard pitch (if pod is positioned opposite the porch doorway). Then again, it'll take a bit more pitching than a regular Khyam because each of the 4 x sides has a pole arrangement, where the pods can add on or for use as an extra doorway or attachment.

I guess the alternative is, you could maybe buy x 2 packages and a porch inner (if you can find one), then sell off the tent and inner but keep the additional pod? That might work out okay, since the package is selling at £199 and I think the pods were in excess of £100 each to buy separately, anyhow, so you'd probably end up breaking even by doing it that way. Just a thought.

Let us know how you get on, and best of luck!
