Well after the wait for a clear day we finally managed to erect the Cerado8 that we paid £150 for off eBay.

Once Go-Outdoors Harlow excelled themselves by supplying the missing 4 uprights FREE OF CHARGE which we are eternally grateful, you guys ROCK

The tent did smell musty and there were several marks where mildew was growing along with some other marks, after a mixture of hot water, white vinegar & fabric conditioner and LOTS of elbow grease the musty smell appeared to be gone.

The tent had been used for TWO days in August in wales as there was a campsite tag on the tent stated its been used by two adults and three children there were signs of moisture inside the windows where the tent had obviously been put away in a hurry, two of the bedroom pods clips have broken (easily repairable with strong cotton and a needle), along with toggle clips that need to be replaced, there are lots of other marks that will clean off, we have cleaned the worst which will stop any further mildew growth, more serious clean when we get better wether.

The frame is complete, the tent itself has no rips, cuts or holes, not sure of the waterproofing but that will be dome when the better weather gets here, everything else is ok.

So if you are looking for a £1000 tent and only want to pay £150 from eBay I say take that gamble.........

I think we have had couple of Outwell tents off the same seller, we were really lucky too. Had a Nevada XL plus front canopy for £97.00, which were immaculate and a Tennessee 6 for a very good price too! There was a problem with Tennessee 6 but the guy sent another one in replacement no quibbles...absolutely great service and total bargains. Well worth taking the risk I say!

Fabtic softener?

Gulp !

Best treament for mould is milton solution diluted with water (ratio 1:10) but it is too late now.

Luckily you mentioned waterproofing :)

We used a 1:20 mix of Vinegar, & 1:10 mix of fabric softener in a bowl of hot water on the inside of the SIG and the windows.

The outside of the tent is as new but will reproof the seams as we don't know what kind of life the tent has had.

The zip is very tight at the front but reading various forums this appears to be a common problem.

I dont see a prob with the fabric softener as you only used a tiny bit,
I can tell you though dont use washing up liquid on windows. As it sends them yellow like push chair covers!!
Well dont to you for taking the gamble.

Nice to hear of a great bargain, well done and enjoy!

I've looked at them and wondered what they are like, it is worth the gamble .definitely
