Well to put it plainly - the Kampa Tenby with its 100 denier flysheet will naturally last potentially 3-4 times longer under UV exposure than a polyester Outwell with its 75 denier flysheet (as retailers have testified through their outdoor tent displays) and the 100 denier also has greater tear resistance in the event of little accidents. We have a small Kampa 100 denier tent along with some standard 75 denier tents like the polyester Outwells - the thicker, higher quality materials used throughout the Kampa tent really make a difference, and includes the flymesh and inners. The silver coating on the front of the inner and on the inside of the flysheet around the inners also makes a real difference to both the darkness and insulation relative to tents without this unique feature. The tents have many high end quality features and well thought out designs, with excellent customer service afterwards. You can ring up the company in the UK to get excellent service. It is far harder to get service from Oase in Scandinavia (who own Outwell) as some people on the forum have found.
I believe that Kampa have introduced a roof lining for the living areas of many of their tents adding insulation here too.
Funny thing here is that some people don't even notice the silver lining on the flysheet when the tent is pitched going from some of the review comments. It sort of disappears into the colour of the flysheet, but it certainly is there and very obvious when you examine the inside of the tent under artificial light. I mention this as at least one reviewer said they were disappointed that the silver wasn't on all sides of the inner tent. It is there - on the inside of the flysheet. As it makes the fabric less breathable it is done this way rather than affecting the breathability of the inner tent.
Good luck with your choice!
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
