If your Vermont xl lasts as long as our Vermont L (2007 the year they were supposed to leak) you will be well pleased. There is another tent I would add to your list of 2 and thats Wild Country really good tent but they dont promote themselves very well

Ooh, then I hope that it does! They only give tents about a 5 year lifecycle on average I think (polyester ones that is....) so that would be great! Have no experience of Wild Country, probably because of the reason you mention no doubt!
