We've got an old canvas Cabanon and a Quechua Base Seconds 4.2. Now looking for a tarp that can be used alongside both. The Obelink website has two attractive options - a canvas tarp 3.75m square and a polyester 5m square version. The bigger polyester one is cheaper but I'm thinking the canvas - more waterproof, less flappy - but would the polyester be as good or better?
Also, we're going to holland in April but nowhere near the Obelink megastore. Are there lots of camping shops in holland where we could buy the tarp and save on the shipping costs? Anyone know?
Thanks.

I use nylon tarps all the time and have found them adequate for my needs. However, I would recommend a canvas one. I have one on my wish list this year! As you say, less flappy (and noisy) and maybe not more waterproof but certainly more robust. I have a favourite nylon tarp which I use to shelter me and my campfire from the rain and over the years it has become discoloured, saggy and full of tiny pin prick holes caused by spitting pine firewood!
My problem is that I find it hard to justify the cost because ultimately a canvas tarp will end up the same way as the nylon one due to the fire.
So, if you dont intend to shelter a campfire under it, I would go canvas!
The 'canvas' one from obelink is a better tarp than a poly one, it's just not thick, so I used it in the summer, but didn't find it that good for harsh winter/rain (when i actually wanted a tarp)- that's the one in the old pic on my gallery
These are much thicker on ebay (german company) and a few of us have bought these to use as porches
I like the cream canvas tarps to make a porch/shelter for my tent, but I'm ot sure it would look right with the colours..... does anyone know where I could get pale blue or green to match

You could try the Tatonka range of German tarps. The policotton one we use as a special lining to protect from
sparks.its called TC is policotten one.
