For a while now I have been mulling over a new canvas tent. I want something which I can use on trips alone, stand up in and which stands up well in wind.
I am quite keen on the Hypercamp Holiday 2 but I'm not sure I'm dead keen on the fixed canopy. Do any of you have fixed canopy tents? To me a canopy which I can't dismantle in windy conditions will just act as a parachute. BUT I do like the idea of the large sheltered space.
I am also interested in the cheaper Alesia. But I need to find a canopy which will fit it. The canopies at obelink.co.uk all seem to be geared towards caravans so I need to look elsewhere.
Your ideas would be appreciated.

I have a Hypercamp Escala 4, and use the front section of the tent as a canopy, you can see pics of what it looks like via the Tent Review section.
If it is really windy, then I would pitch my tent so that it has its "bum" towards the wind and not the door end.
Normally, I would use just 2 Delta Pegs to hold down the front. However, I carry extra ones in case I need to double up in windy conditions.

Us too DK, but the wind has been known to change direction, that also did not end well!
In answer to OP, I think the Bungalow 2 is a bit strange with the bedroom in front of the window!
------------- Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.

Hmmmm, I would normally have a windbreak to the side of the porch too, pegged down with Delta pegs, to deflect the wind a bit.
