Hello everyone, long time lurker, but my 1st post so be gentle!...
We went to the camping show at Excel yesterday and ended up buying a rather nice new tent.
We have used a EuroHike Swale for the last 2 seasons (our 1st tent) and have just bought a Coleman Mackenzie Cabin 6XL.
Have to say I'm certainly not a tent expert, but the cabin range seems to have got good reviews, so I am hoping we made a good choice!! We also got the enclosed awning to go on the front so it gives a bit of extra length to the tent.

Any thoughts about this tent would be appreciated.

If so 18 reviews on this site might give you some more thoughts on the tent

Cheers  Ratty

I have the Coleman Mackenzie Cabin 6 - great tent IMO.  Great build quality and more than enough for our family of 4.  The Cabin 6XL is the new model for this year but it is basically the same tent but with an extra section on it, plus the nice new addition of the optional extra front porch (the Cabin 6 just has a side porch).  A great purchase and I think you will be very happy with it!

Here is a little info on the Coleman Mackenzie 6 XL
It looks like a pretty nice tent. May I ask how much it was?

It's great to hear such good reviews of tents in the same range. As the XL is a new one for this year there is obviously no feedback around for this model. At least I saw it at the show, and certainly quality wise it looked the same as the cabin 6 that was also at the show...it is just a fair bit bigger, especially with the extension as that adds something like another 1.5m onto the length and is the full width of the tent.
Can I ask if you found your cabin 6 easy to put up?

It certainly looked like a nice tent to me, but I am certainly far from an expert. I think it was quite expensive..maybe not in the world of tents as it seemed cheaper than other brands at the show with similar/ slightly smaller tents. It was a little over £700. That is the tent, front extension, footprint, and carpet.

The Cabin 6 is really easy to put up but the instructions are useless!  If you look at the reviews on this website though there is a step by step guide from someone which was a great help and I imagine yours wont be too far from the same.  Important thing is roof poles in one by one, the instructions say all in at same time and you have no chance to get it up then.  Takes me about 20 mins with my OH helping for about 10 mins - then it is just the thousand guy ropes to put in

PaulReeves, thanks for the tip and that info matches what the chap at the show was saying actually, so it's good to get it confirmed. We were asking how easily it goes up and he said to do the roof poles one by one.
Our old tent is a lovely size, but a pain in the bum to get up and whenever we camped we had tent envy watching the other campers get theirs up in much less time than we did..admitteldly we probably don't camp as often as they do, so maybe they were more practiced, but it will be nice to be a bit quicker and not start the holiday with an arguement!!
