Hi, as a family we are fairly new to camping and have had our eye on theHiGear Kalahari 10. Ive been keeping an eye on the price to see if/when it comes on offer.
However, I notice on the GoOutdoors website today they have a voyager 10 which is slightly more expensive. Does anyone have any experience of this or is it a new tent? I can't find any reviews of this either here or on Google.
I am curious to know if this has a built in porch rather than a seperate modfule as per the Kalahari 10.
Regards
Dave

The Voyager 10 is a brand new tent for 2012 - We designed it on the back of the Voyager 6`s success and popularity.
As yet it doesnt have an additional porch. The kalahari porch fits in a fashion, but doesnt offer a perfect fit.
The tent has loads of space inside and offers bedrooms at either end that are split 3 and 2 berths.
Let me know if you need any further info

Many thanks Dave - very helpful. Now what I really could do with knowing is when the kalahari 10 is likely to be on offer again...:)

Any idea what the difference is between kalahari 10 and voyager 10 ?
By the look of it the kalahari is a tunnel tent with steel poles and the voyager is like a huge dome tent design the voyager does seem to be bigger but I bet it's easier to put up as I do ours on my own in about 40 mins

Thanks for that reply. Our nearest branch of Go-Outdoors is in Basingstoke so may go over at the weekend to have a look.
I am still puzzled by the description of the tent on the website as it says, and I quote, ..
The large porch area is kept easily ventilated by the mesh screen doorway, and gives you ample space for keeping your bikes, setting up a kitchen, sheltering from a downpour, or sleeping extra campers.
If Dave Addy gets to read this maybe he can clarify this?
Thanks

I think the wording on the website is incorrect - the porch is referring to the living space. I will pass your comments onto the web content team and ask them to change it.
Both Kalahari and Voyager tents have fibre glass poles. The footprints are very similar - the main difference is the pole layout on the Voyager. Its a geodesic shape which offers more strength and stability. The dome also creates a feeling of more space.
The choice will come down to personal preference (and price obviously) The kalahari is on offer till the end of the week - then returns to normal price (£399.99) No doubt we will do an offer on the Kalahari 10 at some point in the season - Im afraid I dont get to see the timings of the offers
hope this helps

I cant give the CEO`s email out im afraid - However, if you leave feedback through our website all the `main men` get an email with your comments on or alternatively you can email the store direct on.......

Many thanks Dave. late last year the K10 was on offer for £199 which was a bargain (IMHO!). I do like the idea of the V10 design but the wife is keen on having a porch for storing muddy items etc - sadly the "proper" porch option isnt available for the V10 yet.
At the moment our "tent fund" covers the cost of a V10 (or K10) , carpet and footprint ...so I think I am going to have to learn to be patient :(
Maybe I should get a discount for being sharp eyed and reporting the incorrect description :)

i bought a voyager ten at the beginning of august to go on hol to cornwall. it was brill. it as a walk way in between two of the bedrooms which acts like a storage area or as we used it as our walk in wardrobe.. cool my friend bought the kalimari 10 which is also a brill good size tent both get 10/10 for me
We bought a Voyager 10 and went camping last week and loved it, our first time camping and other than inconsiderate 'neighbours'
We went to Southerness and had a few nights of strong winds and reasonable rain.
Taking the tent down was torrential rain and strong winds so taking the tent down was a bit of a nightmare, but we got there in the end, and had to set it back up again when we got home to ensure it dried out fully as inside was pooled with water
We love it that much, we actually bought a 2nd one today from the reduced section in Go Outdoors for the bargain price of 150 quid as a strap had been broke but replaced
The main reason we chose the Voyager 10 over the Kalahari 10 was the bedroom layout it made much more sense and a far better layout
We bought the Zenobia porch for 40 quid too which isn't a perfect fit and no porch will be for the Voyager 10 design but at 40 quid it was too good an offer to refuse :)
We also got the Kalahari 10 carpet as it was 24 quid cheaper and bigger than the Voyager 10 carpet
