Just to let you guys know, Oberlink have responded well and we are discussing them making amends. They are being entirely reasonable and no one should be put off from buying from them.

Coleman, however, have refused to help. Point blank. They say it's my problem for buying from Holland, which of course it is. But I didn't expect to need to return it because of manufacturing problems (there wasn't even a "sorry" for making the thing badly). Hey Ho. You live and learn.

Right. Let's have a look at Outwell.

hi, did you buy the tent from obelink? ive read a few stories about that retailer; im beginning to wonder if their products are 'seconds' i understand they are a hypermarket type set up and are apparently good value, generally selling 'last years model' but they should state if the products are imperfect just so we know before we buy, and hopefully  they are not chancing on the fact that we wont return them back to holland and attract the additional postage/hassle. we all love a bargain but we should be told upfront.

Well, i bought from them a few times. Their products are definitely not 'seconds'. And also they don't generally sell 'last years model'. Each year they have a full new range of products from various brands. Ofcourse, as it is a big store with lots of custumors it is more likely they will have a large stock left from 'last year' and also it is more likely you will hear they delivered a faulty tent/product, more likely than that you will hear it from the shop at the corner of the street.

Im glad to hear from WobblyBob2012 that they gonna sort it out. Was not expecting that Coleman would not even say sorry, but in fact it is quite normal that the manufacturer will point you to the retailer where you have bought the product.

Here's a quick iphone vid of the inside - I hope it helps give some feel of the size.

Obelink have made a decent offer (which I have accepted). It only took 2 e mails to reach an agreement. One offer was to replace the tent, but given that it's Colemans manufacturing that's at fault, I guess there's no way of knowing if the replacement will also have issues. So I'll repair the tent myself and learn a lesson from Coleman's lack of interest. It was as if they didn't believe me that there were faults, despite the photo's. Strange.

Obelink charge £255 incl shipping for this tent.

The cheapest online price I can find is £265 incl shipping.

On amazon.com the same tent sells for $129 (£84.50)!

With shipping you can have it for £130.

But here's my point - if the tent is faulty when it arrives, I'll need to pay for it to be returned for exchange or repair. I don't have confidence that it will arrive and be perfect (3 significant faults found so far tell me that Coleman have a QA issue).

Ordering a 19.5kg parcel from the US on this basis could be a nightmare and besides, I'm happy with the price I paid at the time - you'll always find someone to sell it cheaper, I guess. I did a deal with Oberlink and they've stood by any commitment they made.

Hi all,

We have the Coleman Instant 4 2012 model which we ordered mid February, upon erecting it in the back garden we found a tear in the groundsheet at the rear under where the right hand bedroom will be located.  We have repaired this with a ground sheet repair kit (adhesive strips) after watching the video on youtube from WobblyBob2012 we couldn't believe that his had a tear in exactly the same place.

We are still impressed with the tent especially the size, we previously had a Coleman Ridgeline 4 Plus which was adequate but more headroom needed and living space.
