Well I saw a Kampa once and needed mouth to mouth resus.
I'm kidding
If there was a UK made polycotton or cotton tent of similar design standards to those of Kampa and Outwell and similarly priced I'd buy one like a shot.
Owning a Kampa and actually handling the quality in the flesh - their polycottons match Outwell's in quality but beat Outwell's polyester tents hands down in terms of the quality of the materials they use throughout in their Ultimate range tents.
The extra 25 denier in the flysheet naturally multiplies the life of the tent over an Outwell and their flymesh and inner fabrics are far thicker and better quality throughout. The silver coating on the inside of the fly and front of the inner also makes the inner more temperature even and far darker for a good nights' sleep. So if you like the design, a Kampa Ultimate poly tent will outlast Outwell's equivalent considerably and is more affordable in the first place.
In terms of the poles, Kampa's fibreglass poles are also PE wrapped but the ferrules are far more substantial and not likely to split like some people have encountered with the Outwell ferrules (particularly on their tied arch pole tents). The steel poles also have reinforced bends at the top for added robustness.
When combined with the after-sales service you can get direct from Kampa as well as their retailers (whilst Outwell rarely deal with customers direct) Outwell aren't alone any more at the premium end of the (non-cotton) tent market IOHO. In fact they may well have lost the top slot.
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
