After my recent panic buy (couldn't find a 2011 green carpet for love nor money), the mocca carpet for the Monty has arrived but I'm not very happy with it.
I thought the Outwell carpets were fleecy and quite thick. Mine just isn't. As it's the mocca carpet for the new mocca Monty (which is cheaper than the Monty 6P), I wonder if they've compromised on the quality of the fabric.
Think I'm gonna have to waste some petrol and get down to Go to have a touchy/feeley! Any thoughts gratefully received!

I have always felt Outwell carpets are overpriced for what they are and I use picnic rugs which are pretty much the same thing at a fraction of the cost. I managed to get light brown tartan ones which match the mocca tent quite well.
Unfortunately picnic blankets aren't flame retardant like tent carpets. Having a flammable layer across the tent would tend to make the flame retardancy of the tent itself rather pointless. Our Vango 2009 carpet is very thick and bulky! Our Kampa one is like a picnic blanket in weight but still lovely under foot and very compact to pack...swings and roundabouts!
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
The green outwell carpets seem to be much thicker and fleecier than the mocca ones which seem very flat. I agree with you that the quality of the mocca fabric does not compare with the green ones

The Mocca and the Blue carpets are pretty thin as the ones we have had dont have any foam between the carpet and the backing

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Thanks all. Now I know it's not just me being picky. I've read so many reviews stating how thick, warm, fleecy etc the carpets were, but when it arrived it was a total let-down. There's no fleecy pile on it at all and is so thin.
But....if I can't find a 2011 green carpet within a day or so, I'm gonna have to put up or shut up!
RRP of £105 is a rip-off as the green ones are the same kind of price. Kicking myself for leaving it so late to order, but didn't realise they'd have all gone. Hindsight eh!!!!!!
They have probably all gone as the "standard" Montana is in Mocca this year and not green. We have both the blue and the mocca ones and the are still fairly warm underfoot and certainly better than not having one

The Bear Lake 6 carpet would fit a Monty. Also The Minesotta 6 carpet if you could find one! I also think that the Vermony L might not be too bad either?? x
Both the Vermont L and minnie carpets would be too short

We've previously bought two Vango carpets and now the 2 Outwell BL carpets (in green LOL) and the Outwells are definitely thinner but to my mind of superior quality. I like it that they roll up into their own bag.
The Vangos were a 2008 and 2009, both for an 2009 Orchy 600. The later one was the tent year but not fitted to the living area and after I managed to scorch it (don't ask) it was consigned to the bedroom. It had a smooth but hardish surface with a foam core. It wasn't particularly comfortable but did the job I suppose although we were disappointed it wasn't fitted.
The 2008 was fitted but of a different fleecy type design and the threads pull and drag and hold every bit of fluff etc. It always ends up looking a mess which I don't think will be an issue with the BL's.
Each to his/her own I guess but if you're going to go the maker's carpet route I think Outwell's are good. I know others think the picnic rug solution is much cheaper and just as good and good luck to them.
I feel for you though having to compromise with a mocha in a green tent. That will add to your concern when it's thinner than you'd expected.
I hope you get a solution one way or the other.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
Mike...solution was taking the mocca back and getting a refund (luckily they refunded no problem). I just couldn't stomach paying £85 for a carpet that feels much less cosy than the green equivalent.
I've found a site that seems to say they're stocking the 2011 green carpets from May so I'm ging to wait and hopefully order it then.
Failing that, I'll search for another make that's a near size (not too bothered about the colour...just want it to be a decent thickness and fleeciness).
Our outwell carpet for the Norfolk lake isnt particularly fleecy or thick. Its about the same consistency of a plastic backed picnic rug although a lot better quality.

Glad you got the moccha refunded but TBH I'd be surprised if the green version was a lot different. Ours are thinner than the others we've had but still "feel" superior.
Mrs G hasn't got the sewing machine out yet as I'm just post-op with complications so we're wizzing between hosp and GP etc when all I want to do is GO CAMPING
