Re tinnitus and bell tents. Remember that if your bell tent gets wet, you can wring it out, before packing it away

Re clingons. I've never had one break, but I do use a cloth pad between the two faces, to help stop damaging the tent fabric.

with the reinforcing patches, do you just literally sew a little square of canvas onto the part where you want the eyelet and then fix that on through the double layer? (sorry to poke my nose into this thread)

When I fit eyelets, I use epoxy resin both sides of the fabric where the eyelets will grip. This reinforces the fabric and stops it tearing or pulling out. (just a small circle around the edge of the hole)

Which eyelet kit are you all using? I bought one of those tarps for my bell tent and its still sat in the kitchen despite buying the king pole straight away! Was planning on just using one pole but now seeing those lovely pics might have 2 then it will fit the Touareg too if I use it the other way round with one pole, if you get me!!!!

Hi Nicky,
I got the small 2x3m tarp..... I think it'll be fine, it's main job is just to add a bit more protection to the doorway really!!!

I put the eyelets in mine with no extra patches etc and noticed it started to fray straight away so I've put a few reinforcing stitches around to try and help it. I'm not sure how effective it'll be, but I do like the idea of some adhesive to start with!!!!! Then again, I might take it all of and sew some little leather patches on and start again!!!!

Good idea re the epoxy resin Raf!
Yes I also got the 2m x 3m. Would have like a 2m x 4m, but the next size up was 3m x 3m and I thought that would make the doorway too deep.

Cathyh, I like the way you've set up your tarp. I followed Val's recommendation and made an offer on the 3 x 2 but the seller didn't respond.  Will try again.

The first one expired without a reply. However, I tried again and was successful.   Did it take long for yours to arrive?

I'll answer my own question, in case anyone's thinking of ordering one. I ordered on the 13th and it arrived on the 18th. Germany to Aberdeenshire in 5 days!!

By the way - it's gorgeous!

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad you're happy with the tarp!!!

I think mine arrive within a week as well, so you can't fault the delivery......

I'm still deciding whether to take my eyelets out and sew some leather patches on before refitting them or.........just try it and see!!!!

My worry is, if it's gonna let you down it's always at the worst time!!!

Remember, You can never have "too many" tents!!!!

If it helps, I also have the German tarp recommended by Val on my bell tent:

I use two king poles at the entrance for ease of access, I think Val tends to use just the one.

just got my 2.0 x 3.0 tarp :) what size king poles did you use cathyh?
