I have a vermont L and we camp with hook-up, so are on standard pitches.

we like the vermont awning but are concerned as to whether i will fit on a standard pitch with it.

any got any experience with this please?

What is a standard pitch that is the question weve never had the same size pitch at different "private" campsites. The Camping and Caravan club have set standard pitch sizes but that applies to their sites. Best to ring round a few sites and ask.
Weve been to sites where the front door opened directly onto the road and weve been to others where weve had the Vermont + extension + canopy up and still had loads of room in front
