Ok, i've decided that its time for a new tent. One that I can throw in the car at the drop of a hat and disappear for a few days or even perhaps a week.
I've got the chance of 2 tents at very decent prices and well within our budget for a new "weekender"
The two are the Icarus 600 or the Tigris 800. I can see the benefit of both tents but as it stands the Tigris is just winning because of size and practicality. However I do like the Icarus, but with 3 kids - 1 of which no longer camps with us as he's hitting 18 this year and wants to do its own thing, the other two are 5 and 12 (girl and a boy), so im thinking 3 sleeping areas are going to be better than two.
But why oh why is the Icarus still turning my head?
Anyone got any advice, pros/cons of each tent. I've only got experience of smaller Vango tents but at the price im getting the tents for Its far too good an offer to refuse either of them. I'd buy both but the wife would a)divorce me. b)Kill me or c)Both!!!

This may sound a bit daft, (I usually do), but have you seen them both pitched? I think if you could do this it might make your decision easier. I do love the layout of the Tigris, especially bedroom space but there is something about the Icarus that makes me yearn for one....sorry, not much help really, am I????
I've seen the Icarus pitched, been in one (or two) too. I think its a lovely tent and really inviting, but for practicality I've a feeling the Tigris will be "our" choice. That obviously is subject to change though

I would go for the Icarus personally. I had an earlier one and only sold it because it had no flymesh on the front door and we were invaded with wasps in Dorset. Ours was the 5 berth and it was plenty big enough for short trips for the 4 of us. Easy to put up, lightweight and doesnt take up much room in the boot
