Hi, I've just got my new tent & put it up in the garden to practice.
The trouble is I can't get the seams on the fly sheet to match up with the poles on the inner tent.
I'm pretty new to this, but am I right thinking this will be a problem if it rains?
How do I sort it?
It's a Trail Ridge Unisex 3 Man Tent.
TIA

Tried to find some pictures of the tent to try and work out what you meant but can only find one and it wasn't very helpful. The poles wouldn't always necessarily line up with the seams, it does depend on the design. Does the tent appear to sit right otherwise. IE is the floor flat and the the whole thing not leaning to one side?
Thanks RTS5,
it's basically a dome tent, inside first, with an added porch, ie the poles X in the middle, the seams on the fly sheet also X in the middle and it seems like they should lie over the poles.
There are ties inside the fly sheet to attach it to the poles, at a stretch, but after that point they just don't match up.
Everything else is fine, just a bit worried about getting wet. Wales in a couple of weeks.
Should I have the inner tent stretched out fully before attaching the fly sheet, or should move it in a bit?
Hmm does sound odd. I have only tried one tent that was inner first and the seams did line up with poles because as you say there are ties to attach the two together.
I would expect the inner tent to be fully extended when you put the outer on top. Though I can't see how the two not lining up will make the tent leak, unless the fly is resting against the inner. Give it another go and try the inner tent in various positions (fully out/partially etc) and see how you get on.
Hope you have more luck on the 2nd pitch.
