We're thinking of travelling to Holland from London on the train to pick up a De Waard Albatross tent - if anyone has one, could you let me know if it would be possible (or not!) to carry.
Thanks!
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I used to have an Albatross but sold it last year. Fantastic tent you wont be disappointed.
The tent, poles and pegs pack away into one big bag but it is enormous and weighs a tonne - I really think you will struggle. If there were 3 or 4 of you and you break it down into separate packages then maybe. Where abouts in Holland are the sellers? Maybe they would be prepared to drive to calais and meet you there?
Many thanks for all your replies - The best Dewaard store in Holland is apparently the one in Heerde - not sure where that is yet. Was just trying to save a bit in shipping costs!
....Vrijbruiter have a branch in Gouda with a big Dewaard display. This would be a better bet if you train it from London-Harwich to Hoek van Holland & then its only a short train ride to Gouda. You could do it in 2 overnights & an easy day. Heerde is over 100miles from the Hook.
I've got an Albatros Junior and even with just the main tent I can't lift it on my own, I have to roll it along the floor. And that's without the poles, awnings, pegs etc which all come in separate bags.
My suggestion would be to invest in some kind of fold up trolly that you can take with you on the train.
