Hi everyone

1 question really and one turn up for the books!!

Was able to purchase an Outwell Glendale 5 from Go Outdoors Bedford, retail price £500 - Go Outdoors 20% off price £400.

Got to the tills and asked 3 times (2 different staff) if the poles were in the pack or a seperate bag. Was told it was one pack and poles were in it. I wasn't convinced but took their word for it.

Got home, surprise surprise, no poles. Called the manager and had a minor rant at him who said he'd put a set of the poles aside and offer me a further 10% off for the inconvienence.

Went back and picked up the poles and got £50 back - so Outwell Glendale 5 for £350 - bargain!!!!

One question though:

I noticed on the Outwell site one of the features being advertised this year is a new and improved carrybag (dark Blue with zips) - on buying the Glendale 5 today it came in the old style light blue drawstring bag.

Is this right?? Just wondering if anyone else had bought a Glendale 5 2012 and what bag it came in.

Thanks

On the tents where there is no change for 2012 any stock Outwell have in the lighter blue bags will be shipped to the retailers first, later in the season the new colour bags will start to come through...

Hi, I had the same thing happen to me from there, they sent me off with an Outwell tent that was a 2010 model not 2012, it wasn't until I got home and realised that the model I had didn't have the green stripes which made it at least 2 year old. Anyway if you check inside the bag there is a label and down the side of it there will be the year. Mine said 2009! and again the bags were different and not as good as this years.
If the tent itself is the same as last years and it's just the bag that is different it's not so bad if you got such a bargain, however it's rather annoying when you have been sold an older model without them telling you.

Hi,just bought mine from Go Outdoors, and bag has draw strings and label inside states 2010. How can Go Outdoors advertise the tent as 2012 model and then sell you a 2010 or is it the the same with all retailers? You go on other retailers websites and a few do tell you the 2012 tent has a new bag and new pegs but Go Outdoors didn't.

I did double and triple check that the tent was as described on the Outwell site eg: the specification.

On looking on the Outwell site it says to check the year you have, you need to pitch the tent and in one of the sleeping pods it has a label at the bottom and on there the year it was made,

I'll being hopefully doing this next weekend.

I wouldn't worry too much about the year of the Glendale 5, as the only apparent difference is that this years model has a new carrying bag, Having said all that I've noticed that the Glendale that they have pitched at Go Outdoors, the inner door only opens left to right, but on last years Outwell video it states the inner door opens from both sides.

Nipped into Go - Exeter today to pick up some bits, as you do and was interested to see the new outwell carry bags for myself. I did notice that they had both the old and new style bags on the shelves which got me wondering if they are selling 2011 stock as 2012? For example there was Nevada M sat there in a blue carry bag next to one in the new shiny Black(or dark blue) carry bag. Both priced exactly the same. Could be as someone said earlier in this thread that Outwell are using the blue bags first. It's made me wonder anyway.

You're right - at the store in Bedford there were a mix of old and new bags.

Not of the Glendale 5 though, they were all old style bags. I suppose at the end of the day, you use the bag to store the tent in - nothing more nothing less, so as long as it does its job it shoulnd't matter what it looks like.

But it does make me wonder, as you say, if they are trying to get rid of old stock.

Looking at the 2011 catalogue versus 2012, the entrance porch on the 2012 tent is 30cm longer, ie 190cm v 160cm. Is this true? Does this help those who have bought already the year their tent is?
