Hi

IIm a newbie on here & Im after advice on the best tent for my needs please :)  I would like a tunnel tent that will be big enough for me & my 2 children & our big beds, with lots of living space too BUT ... I need to be able to pitch it on my own (with maybe a bit of help from my 9 & 5 year old).

The last tent we had was an outwell vermont XL - loved it but obviously no way i could pitch that solo (i couldnt even carry the pole bag lol).  I really like the idea of a tunnel tent & think i would prefer us all to be sleeping at the same end with the living area at the other end (like the vermont), id like as big as possible that i can pitch alone (5ft 6" ,slight build but not a wimp hee hee).

Price is an issue too but would buy second hand if it was the right tent/price.

Thanks in advance for your advice & i hope ive posted in the right place :0

One of the simplest tents to pitch is the Outwell Birdland range...

Hi and welcome!

We have an Outwell Nevada XL which I can pitch on my own(5'8 and blonde lol), using my feet to help! A nice big but light tunnel tent that has 3+3 bedrooms at one end which open out to one large bedroom. Great living space, loads of light with the big windows too. We use a front extension for all the cooking gear etc. We can get a king size full height Aerobed in one bedroom, so space shouldn't be an issue there. We also have a Suncamp Ventura which is much smaller with only 3 poles but I stuggle to put that up alone!?!

Hope this helps.

Another welcome to the forum and a vote for the Icarus. We have the 500 as there are only two of us. But the 600 looks very smart.

VANGO Icarus, 600 or 500. Very easy to pitch, look on ebay, nearly new tents sell brand new ones for £100 last seasons colours.

I've just got the Birdland 4 and canopy and went away over Easter, just me and my grandson. I'm only 5ft 3in and can pitch it on my own. Lovely tent, really light and spacious and the canopy finishes it off nicely. It felt really stable and solid.

You can have the bedrooms as one large one or split in two.

There is also the Birdland 5, which I'm sure you could pitch on your own too.
