Err, the tent footprint, i.e. generally out to the edge of the main body of the tent in all directions, minus a couple of inches all round. There might be some which wouldn't extend to include any attached canopy (such as the front canopy on our BL) but generally it would be edge to edge.
It's less a couple of inches so as to minimise the risk of rain being caught by the footprint and flowing in between the footprint sheet and groundsheet. If that happens and the groundsheet isn't too highly rated for "Head Height", the water can overcome it and enter the tent.
Hope that makes sense.

My advice is worth no more than the price paid for it
It goes under the SIG (Sewn In Groundsheet) or ZIG (Zipped In Groundsheet) to protect it from stones etc and is also good for keeping the SIG/ZIG clean which makes folding it back up again much easier as you don't get mud on your actual tent. A footprint should be just a touch smaller than the actual base of your tent.
As they go down under your tent, you can position them where you want your tent without having to drag the tent about too.

Pass. I did say that generally a footprint will mirror the shape of the main tent, but if those pics are right it looks to me as if it doesn't go under the two side pods. I wouldn't have thought that would be right. I'd ring the shop, they may be showing the wrong pic.

Not all of them cover the whole tent we had an Outwell Dakota and the genuine footprint for that only covered the bedroom area .
