(apologies if this has been asked before - couldn't find answer on a search)
Changed last year from a dome (Vango Diablo) to a tunnel (Kampa Filey 6). No matter how we seem to pitch it, rain puddles on the roof and eventually seeps through (and all out trips last year involved very heavy rain!). Obviously it was never a problem with the dome tent, the water just ran off.
Does anyone have any tips to prevent this? Pitching ideas, or just a large can of Fabsil! Bit disappointed as otherwise it's a great tent.
Thanks in advance.

Our Vermont L, basiclly the same as your Kampa Filey6 but with a front door, has generally poold water on one or two roof sections between poles in rain. If windy it eventually blows off or when the pool gets big enough it can, but not allways run off. We even posted on here a few years ago asking about it as we had very heavy rain on our first trip in it and the water became like a small lake on the roof - quite alarming at first.

No amount of altering the pitch of the tent made it stop it would just pool in a different roof section.

No matter how long it pooled on the roof it never managed to seep through the fabric and we stayed perfectly dry inside. Whilst our Outwell is a 5,000 HH flysheet yours is a 4,000 HH flysheet so there should really be no difference between them.

I would say you should not be getting any seepage through, can you take it back? If not fabsil should help though.

Cheers.

Our Orchy has a dome front and a short tunnel rear. It pools water on the rear section, almost as if the polyester stretches under the weight of the water. I was always reluctant to re-tension the tent via the guys in case it ripped when dry again. I never found a solution other than to flex the roof to run the water off. Be interested in other thoughts.

We had the same thing happen to us last year in Bala, must admit we did panic a bit at first and even resorted to trying to shake it off, when this didn't work we just left it and kept an eye inside the tent below the puddles, none ever came through. Still, it's nice to know it's not uncommon.

many thanks for your help - I don't mind the puddles, it's the fact the water leaks through that concerns me more. Perhaps it's a tent problem rather than the pitching. I think I'll contact Kampa

Is it possible that it could be condensation that's dripping? as the puddle will form a low point in the fabric to which any condensation would travel. One of my tents also suffers with puddling, but I've never had any drips.

Canvas tent, paraffin light, petrol stove. Heaven
I'd rather be kayaking.
Spent up, not pent up, just had my new tent up.
