Sorry this is not what you might have wanted but ......... the front Awning for your tent is quite large, it makes the length go from around 6 m to 8.5 m and can be opened up. Here there is a change to the 2012 from last year, mine ( the 2011) can open up more fully than the 2012 . This can still be bought if you look around and is no doubt similar colour. The Awnings are a bit more expensive than the extensionhs and do offer more space, the ability to close down the front in rain or strong wind and a ground sheet.
If you extend to the side watch out for locating on pitchesas many are allocated and marked as longer thin strips ...... some sites prefer 5m by 7 m but many allow us the 8.5 without too much bother. You can of course leave the extra at home on the sites where the owners are penny hungry for inches.
Hi, this is a pic of our Montana 6 with the universal side canopy on, doesn't really give you any extra room but allows a alternative waterproof entrance to the main tent. The awning and front conopy in the picture is the best way to go as the entire front can be rolled up and also is separated from main tent for cooking in or entertaining at night while the kids sleep. Front canopy also keeps the rain off the front of awning or tent.

We have the 2011 tent and have just bought the awning, do you every have problems fitting it on a pitch?
Yes we have found a couple of sites that want extra for "LARGE" tents. The worst cases of cash hungry pitch fees have been in the Chichester area where one fellow wanted double pitch fees for anything over 6m inclusive of ropes !
However we have been to a lovely site in Cornwall and not a penny extra for the tent and trailer, again the same at Chedar and we are off in a short while to the New Forest and have not been skinned for the size
So I would say it all depends on if they want me to book, because I think we need to teach some greedy people that it does not work .
Cant really blame any site owner for wanting more money for extra large tents. We used to find this with our Biaritz but if you take up 2 pitches because of the width then isnt it fair to pay for 2 pitches or look elsewhere for another site
------------- Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

Does anyone know the length of a monty with an extension (porch)on? We've not been out on ours yet. I calculated it would be about 8.45 metres but someone said elsewhere it is under 8m as the extension overlaps?
