No worries, sites like this are awesome as long as everyone pitches in with info when they can.
As for your question: I’m no Robens connoisseur nor am I familiar with Aussie weather. But if you ask me, both tents will be stinking hot in stinking hot weather. ;-)
You probably know this but, IMHO there are a number of reasons to go for cotton, technical cotton of poly.
For me the most important reason to go for a poly tent would be if I expect to have to break down the tent often, especially if the tent is wet when packing up. Poly doesn’t mind wet packing up as much a cotton does. But I don’t expect that to be a big issue in Australia.
Another reason is pack volume en weight. No idea if this is an issue for you but if your car is big enough and you don’t plan on lugging the tent around much, then these aren’t valid arguments for a poly tent either.
Price obviously is a factor. But should you say that money shouldn’t be your primary factor for choosing a tent, then I’d def go for the Vista. Especially considering the weather you guys get (warm, sunny).
On that note (sun) one last thing to take into consideration: given the amount of sunshine i.e. high UV, my gut feeling says that the Vista will repel water longer (poly breaks down under influence of UV… PS you might want to check how that works for these technical cotton (ie cotton + poly lining) materials.
So, in short: I’d go for the Vista (or a 100% cotton version if there is one).
Hope that helps.

I recently saw the Robens collection pitched, they ooze quality. I'd love one. However we've bought 4 tents in the last 18 months and I just can't justify one. Although the polyester one is going come springtime. So keeping the 3 and 4 man polycotton and the ripstop cotton.
