I've done a little bit of camping before, but always stayed in others' tents. Its time to branch out and buy my own and ive seen the Coastline 8 berth for a reasonable price second hand. Ive used the review section and it seems to be reasonable but I want to know if its suitable for a couple of new campers and 2 (small) dogs. I know its a bit big but the family will hopefully be growing over the next year or so so want some space to grow into. Good idea? If not why and what would you recommend?
Also id be interested if anyone could recommend any dog friendly sites in the Portsmouth/Southampton area.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

I had a very similar coleman - i think the prevoius version. Dont know why they call it a coastline as camping in any sort of costal wind was a nightmare. If your side on to the wind at an exposed costal campsite then the poles will bend and snap. Depends how you camp. If you want to sit inside your tent in deckchairs and spend time in the day inside then a big tent on camp then it is nice. If your out during the day and eve at the local hostelrey then you want a cosier smaller tent, just for sleeping in. I would not spend more than £100 for a 2nd hand version. Its warmer in a smaller tent. Ours was just too big for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, felt like one of those farmers polytunnels. Its ok, but I would buy a tent for your needs now and think about upgrading when the family gets bigger. Your bound to change your view on what type of tent you want.
