So took my newly purchased secondhand outwell ohio large, to wales.
and last night the campsite got hit big time with wind.
Consequently, it proceeded to bend and snap one of the poles and then moved through the tent snapping every set :(
I am guessing, repairs arent available and a full poleset will have to be bought, but am kinda thinking, its probably not worth it, given the tent with awning only stands me 350, so gutted.

Oh no that is really bad luck. Sounds like the poles may have been put under a fair bit of load before which had weakened them and hence they broke the first bit of wind you got.

It is worth seeing if you can get some more poles though, especially if you liked the tent. Plus £350 seems a lot of money to me

yeah 350 is a lot of money to me, but replacement poles, are looking around 250, plus, there are repairs needed to the fabric. I dont know if my money would be better invested in new.

Now to wait until , wednesday, to see if my contents cover, will pick up some of the cost :P

Your right, those welsh winds, aren't for the weak :D

By the end of the night, there wasnt many left standing.

Ah I see your point. Yes with cost of repairs rising to nearly the price of the tent it does kind make you think about replacing the whole lot.

Hope you get some joy with the house insurance.

The other point I would check with your home insurance is whether it will have an impact on your annual premium because you have made a claim.

You might find that your annual premium jumps in price not only next year but for several years. Add in the excess payment and you might not get that much back

If the tent is covered on the house insurance ill be amazed, they can be covered for theft and damage caused by say a car running over it but ive never heard of a tent being covered for storm damage...Good luck though.

What exact model / size is it..? As long as the tent is okay I'm assuming all you have to do is repalce a couple of poles from each section ...?

its an outwell ohio large, dont think I can get the pole sections?

it is one pole in 3 of the sections and 2 in the last one.
the poles are curved, but am open to advice, if anyone, knows someone, how can replace sections.

(I really love this tent, and would be chuffed to bits if I didnt have to replace it).

The tent has one 2 inch tear, in it, which could be repaired.

The repair in the fabric could be made using Tenacious tape on my new favourite Tear Aid.

Bit of a long shot but you could try calling some of the shops that used to stock the tent and see if they have any spare sets of poles... or try calling Tent Spares
