I'll be honest and say that buying a tent with integrated lighting seems an expensive option and just another component that could go wrong. As for the cost on top being an extra £60.... that's plain mad in my opinion.
Not sure what Decathlon were thinking with this idea, I think keeping lighting separate from the tent as a positive advantage! People all prefer different lighting methods and types for a start.
I cant but help think its (the Illumin idea in general) aimed more at the first time camper or festival goers perhaps?
Got to step inside an XL a few days ago at Decathlon and it was quite nice, the only thing that would drive me mad is that even at the highest point of the tent, I could never stand straight up, I had to lean forward to stop my head hitting the top.
The old style 4.2 I have has a smaller living area, but I can stand upright** in the centre of the living area which makes it feel larger than it is. It was interesting stepping into one, right from the other to compare them.
Both lovely tents though, a shame to see prices have hiked up however.
**For reference I am a pretty modest 6'1" tall. Yes, the extra inch matters! lol
------------- (Quechua popup addict!)
Planned for next year, hopefully!
Summer Solstice wild camp.
Chilled in a Field, July.
Crantock, August. Fouth year with the fantastic Quechua Base Seconds 4.2!
..... and the odd night wild camping in my Argos 1 man tent...
