Having finally mastered putting up our Sunncamp Shadow 800, we've just bought the Verano Sun Canopy (not the DL version!)

We're away in Ashford this week and like everyone else have had our fair share of torrential rain. However, we've noticed puddles of water appearing on the top of the canopy which is effectively right in the middle of the tent.

As is always the case, the instructions were vagueness itself and we're struggling to work out if we've erected it correctly. Even to the point that we're unsure how far to pass the loose canopy over the back of the tent when first positioning it.

There is a black line on the canopy flysheet that we think should be level with the black line that is on the main tent flysheet but despite tinkering with things over the last 2 days the canopy doesn't seem tight on top?

Any advice from a fellow owner or indeed anyone that knows this sort of stuff would be gratefully received. And it'll save me having to get up in the middle of the night to push all the water towards the far end of the tent!

I should mention as wel that since erecting the canopy the section of the tent it overhangs seems to have sagged quite a bit - maybe suggesting the canopy has been pulled too tight over the back of the tent?

Many thanks
Pete

Pete,

We've got the DL version (on a Shadow 800)but fitting is probably much the same as the canopy.

It's a bit of trial and error in terms of getting it right. The first time we put it up we fiddled with it for ages to make sure it was square to the tent door and pulled sufficiently back over the tent.

Which door are you putting the canopy over. We put it over the door with the eyebrow canopy.

We've now got it cracked with the fabric that passes over the roof of the tent nice and taught.

You can still get rain collecting under this bit of the canopy on the tent roof but ours has never leaked.

If you go to the tent review section and click on the Sunncamp Kansas 8 (same as Shadow 800 just badged Kansas 8 as it was made for Outdoor Megastore) the first few photos are our tent. There's one good one side on which might give you an idea of how pitched our DL extension.

Thanks campasarow, yes we're def putting over the same door as you.

Am on the wife's iPhone so can't view the photos too well. We are pretty sure we've either pulled the loose canopy too far over the tent or not far enough. I reckon currently the end of the loose canopy is about 30-40 cm from the top of the exit/window at the rear of the tent.

As someone who has tinkered with theirs by the sounds of it, does this sound similar to yours and/or does the black lines on the canopy fly sheet ring any bells (and if so did it line up with the black line on the main tent?)

Thanks again
Pete

Pete,

I made a mistake it my first post  because if you look at our photos we put it over the door without the eybrow porch. I wonder if that makes a difference?
