Would you buy one?

Considering these things have been sat in a field for 4 - 6 maybe up to 10 weeks, had doors left open in the rain, people tramping through them etc is this a good idea?

This then breaks down to a few sub questions -
Pollycotton or synthetic material?

What's the expected lifetime of each of these types, all are Outwell tents.

What kind of discount should be expected if they are in reasonable condition?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Dan

Indoor ex display tents are normally fine, ok you might see the odd bit of damage but the fabric will be ok. Outdoor display tents are all about how long they have been up and the type of fabric. Poly cottons with 60-65% cotton should be fine to buy even after 3-4 months, the fabric should still be ok but look for a 50% discount. Polyester, well, look for discount from 50% to 90%... We mostly sell our ex display tents as spares or repairs, if you want to camping in it thats up to you. Ok, sometimes we sell off a tent after 4 weeks if we know we are sold out and no more are comming in for 4 weeks say but most of the time they are 8-10 weeks old and in this case they will be heavily discounted and sold as spares.

I hope this helps you figure out if an ex show model is for you...

Gary Cross

Cheers for the info, I think it confirm my suspicions. The best prices were on polyester ones that have been outside for around 8 - 10 weeks, only about 40% off full price.
The guy was only looking at knocking around £100 off the polycottons, your info gives me the knowledge I need to start negoations if I decide that's the way to go.

Many thanks

Personally I would touch an outdoor ex display tent with the preverbial bargepole much better deals to be had elsewhere

Ditto. I remember a few years ago looking at a outdoor display premium Coleman tent that was for sale at the end of the season. It must have been an unusually hot summer that year (!) but the tent fabric was like a potato crisp.

Don't do it.

WELL DONE. I could'nt get Yeomans to part with a fart a few year back.Looks like Yeomans are buckling then, during these hard times and giving in to a bit of haggling.     Think i'll give um a visit to see how desperado they've become.Cheers for that one sandy willies.

The best bet is wait until the last weekend of their camping shows and go along and make them an offer.
I think they just want to get rid of the demo tents to save them taking them down.
