Hi all. Been looking to upgrade our Vango Orchy 600 2009 model (now there are 3 of us) and would like a bit more space. we have been looking at the Vango Maritsa 700 and the Gelert Horizon 8. It will mainly be used for long weekends and week long stays. Both mother & father inlaw may also stay in the same tent.

Which tent would you say is the better for reliability, size, space and flexability?

Looking forward to your advice

Why stick with those two. Kampa make a better tent for your money then either of those. If you are looking at a Maritsa look at the Bamburgh.

We have the Maritsa 700, its a fab tent. Plently of space and you can use the middle bedroom as a wardrobe when not in use.

There are 4 our us and we still have lots of room. I use the front porch area for the kitchen and its really handy that you can unzip the whole front door.

We purchased ours early this year after much research and going to tent shows. We had whittled it down between a Vango Amazon and a Montana 6, but when we saw the Marista, that was it, decision made.

We previously owned 2 other Vangos and have been very pleased with those.

Hope this helps

Shelley

I certainly wouldnt rule out Kampa as they make some very nice tents the quality is certainly equal to(some will say better than)the other leading brands. I would however rule out the Horizon but thats just my personal opinion

Thanks for the advice. We had a look at the Bamburg and felt that it was cramped compared to the Maritsa. Which Kampa's would you recommend instead?

If you like the Maritsa go with it. There are many happy owners out there. The Bamburgh has a slightly higher denier fabric (75D rather than 70D) but I think your preference for the design of the Vango would outweigh that.

The higher spec 100 denier Kampa tents would however have the edge in my opinion as the fabrics all round are thicker, higher quality and substantially longer lasting (e.g. the Kampa Filey). They are however, heavier and more bulky and they don't match the Maritsa design so may not be right for you.

We have both a Vango premium family tent and a Kampa 100 denier weekend tent. Both have performed excellently and suit well their purpose. The Kampa will outlast the Vango but the Vango is good quality, will have served us proud in the meantime and is just right for us on longer stays - which is important.

Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!

Well, went to the local camping shop on the weekend where they had the Kampa Bamburg and the Vango Maritsa 700 both on display. I've got to say that i preferred the Maritsa. it felt more spacious, and the ventilation seemed better. Also, i liked the SIG in the porch. Can't honestly say that the Kampa looked or felt a better quality. I just want to have a look at a Gelert Horizon 8 now to get an idea of the space it can give you.
