Hi doug, due to weather we haven't had a chance to test this yet but i'm convinced it will clip on the front arch poles of the atakama without many issues.

We free stood the vango universal canopy and was impressed at its size. I have no immediate worries that the two shouldnt marry up. Shame about the colour though as it will look a little odd married to the atakama but for the price and extra space i'm pretty impressed.

Hi, many thanks for the speedy reply. I was hoping it would clip on to the poles ok - only concern was that on the intended tent, I think the poles were on the outside, whereas on the Atakame the poles are withinn a sleeve - i'm sure it shouldn't be too much of a problem - i'll just take some extra string, tent pegs and adapt as necessary.
Yes - colour math isn't great, but at the price and size i'm not too worried.
Happy Camping!
Doug

Hi doug

Yes i see your concerns but i'm hoping they will push over the poles even though the canvas is on. Guess until either of us try and connect we will never know for sure but i'm hoping its not going to be a massive issue.

If you get to try it before I do (this bloody weather won't make up its mind) please do post your findings as I will should I be first.

sounds like your local to us. We are looking for a few days in Pocklington, also near york from tomorrow onward if I feel the weather will hold, but its not looking likely. Its a local campsite as such for us and would be a great test to get this thing right.

Lets hope weather is kind to us both :)

OK we managed to get away for a few days and I'm happy to report that the canopy fitted perfectly.

As you can see, it attachs perfectly on the back dome over the internal poles.

It extends the outdoor cooking / storage area considerably and never leaked even in high winds and rain.

We was very happy with the canopy and even the colour, although obviously very different from the Atakama, looked fine. We even got comments from fellow campers on how well it all went together.

Hi,
Very many thanks for the follow-up. It looks great and i'm really pleased it all fits together. For the price of the Atakama and canopy, I reckon it's a great deal. Lets hope the weather holds out for a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure these will also fit it as I was trying to get a porch for my tent which is similar to the Atakama 5.

Hello All,
Just wanted to say, found this thread incredibly helpful. Was considering selling my perfectly good Atakama 5 tent and springing for a new tent with awning/porch until I read all your posts. Have just purchased a Vango universal premium porch which is fairly close to Atakama dimensions. When it’s arrives and the snow goes i’ll test it out in the garden in preparation for the camping season.
Many thanks to all who posted.

Cheers,
Naomi
