I use two 30 litre boxes for my kitchen stuff, one for dry food and one non food. They are clear with tightly fitted lids and can be used for somewhere to set your mug, or stacked one on top of the other for a slightly higher surface for veg preparation.

In the dry food box is the following:

Olive Oil
flour in a lidded container
Flavourings and sauces
tea/coffee/sugar
Regular medications (keep meds in first aid kit in car too)

Non food box:

Chopping Board
sharp knife
bin bags (roll)
tin foil
ziploc bags
long handled lighter for barbecue
pan set
lightweight frying pan
plates
mugs

Cutlery is kept in a separate divided cutlery tray, along with the veg peeler, tin opener and bottle opener...which is the most important bit of all.

Hope some of that is useful, but as others have said, spend most of your money on your bed. You can cope with anything as long as you get a decent nights rest.

It sounds like a double aerobed with insulation underneath is the way to go. You don't need anything double height, theres even more potential to develop a leak, anyway you're young so you should be ok. Your regular bedding could fit on it so you have proper fitted sheets and duvet, bring extra blankets for warmth. The aerobed comes with a guarantee so if it leaks they'll replace it.

If you are getting so cold ehu is probably a good idea ie nice warm fan heater but
As said before try a hot water bottle ,wear decent warm clothes if it's really cold wear a hat!
We still have the old style canvas type airbeds ...still better than these plasticky type ones in my opinion .
We use cheap picnic rugs under airbeds for example £3.99 from B&M!
Then put sheep skin thingys over airbeds £10 a while back from dunelm these really help.
Lighting we use LED lights very cheap! And bright
Food in cool box and camping cupboard for dry food
Good luck in yr quest

Hi , on the subject of beds first time we went we had a double air bed woke up on the floor after the first night because it had deflated so that day we went to yeomans and bought two camp beds put our duvet over the top of them, woke up the next day with serious back ache! So when we got home we bought a double aerobed which is like two double airbeds stuck together so it's a lot higher. This goes on top of two foam mats. On the aerobed itself we put a mattress protector on then a 4-5 tog duvet then a flat sheet and we sleep in our gelert pod sleeping bags on top of it all. Plus we have another duvet in case it's really cold but the last trip we didnt take it. Its trial and error when camping you have to see what works best for you. But we love our aerobed so much it's really comfy, so much that my hubby wants to have one for our bed at home!! Nutter lol

Everyone likes different things, and some loathe what others swear by !

We bought a double airbed in 2011 and still use it with a duvet!

Of course we tried campbeds , in fact the ones used in the forces .. and at 6 foot 3 found waking up with the side bar digging into my leg was not workable ! Give me the nice big airbed everytime and the EHU to use its inflating pump that also reverses to suck all the air out for packing.

The EHU means you can have a low power blow heater which takes the cold and the damp off everything, and we have a Kampa Sabre LED light hanging in the tent. It is 1m long and has 150 leds, runs off a 12v transformer and is FANTASIC ! We read , play scrabble and the light is amazingly bright yet 100% cool. As for the food storage , we bought an electric fridge that might be slightly over budget.

To me , other than the bed, light and heat the "getting stuff off the floor " process is one that makes life better , so a decent table and cooking stand mean you dont have to bend down for everything you want to do ,

I haven't yet and don't ever intend to  - half the fun of camping is deciding how you can improve on what you've got!!!

Hi all on the sleeping/bed thing i got fed up with air beds and the like bought a couple of good fishing beds ideal, you can set them up on sloping piches and because they have adjustable legs for height you can level them, they are sprung and the mattress is padded, now always get a good kip no matter what. the only down side is they are'nt cheap and are quite bulky this maybe an issuse to some. All the best wombal1

I bought one of these from decathlon for an unsightly price of £109.99!

http://www.quechua.com/en-GB/five-stars/96/sleepin-bed-camp-confort.html

I put it up in the living room and it was ultra comfy. I love the fact that you can adjust the sitting positions.

Also bought a double sleeping bag to have on top/under the duvet.

Hopefully this will cure our cold problem..
