Hi we have a kampa tenby 10 and we love it, but here is the problem my 4th child (4.5years old)has just been diagnosed with duchenne muscular dystrophy, which means he can not step over the entrance to our tent and we can not get his wheelchair out of it so he would have to wait on us all the time and he LOVE'S camping so don't want to stop but am going to need some thing that he can get in and out of but will also sleep 4 children and 2 adults, the thing is as there is no cure at the mo they die between 16/ 25. depending on the child so time is more pressures now while he can still do things,I think we may need a canvas tent but I just don't know so any help would be fab x

so sorry to hear about your son, there's another member here who's child has been going through the investigations for the condition but I don't think the results are out yet. The only tent I can think of that advertises a 'fold flat' door for wheelchair access is the Quechua family 4.2 XL, which can be got in either Decathlon stores or online at Amazon.

How about a more traditional frame tent - that might give you more space - something like this http://www.theforestcampingcentre.com/aruba-6-berth-tent.html - cabanon tents are great quality so you may not need to buy brand new.

Wishing you and all your family the very best - enjoy your camping

That is a good idea Wisaacs a 2nd had frame tent would be very good. Cheaper (because 2nd hand) and no SIG so no door lip to get over.

Best wishes to you had your family and happy camping

Our new Kampa Croyde 6 has a large front door which folds completely flat. It's spacious and the bedroom divider zips open which is handy when you need to see to your kids in the middle of the night.

Hope you find the right tent for you and your family, and that you have many more happy camping trips. X

Why not try contact a tent repair centre ? They may be able to adapt the tent to suit your needs

So sorry to hear about your son, having never been aware of this illness it has recently come to my attention via the Rugby League world, player Andy Johnson's son was diagnosed with the illness last year and they have set up a fundraising website which is being backed by many stars of the game. Just thought you might be interested to read their experiences.

Hi 7 Go camping

Contact Cain Hoe Canvas Goods in Bedford, the guy is amazing and could no doubt make a fold down entrance, the great thinG with the tenby is the living area door is enclosed so its no big deal if you adjust it...
