Hi Guys
Have finally bought a tent, we have gone for the Bear Lake 6 with extension. Never had a polycotton before so I was wondering if all you lovely people have any advice, tips or anything really to tell me or guide me with my new purchase.
I look forward tohearing from you all.
Happy Camping.

We are just using ours for the first time. It is brilliant. It is very windy on the isle of wight at the moment but the tent is so quiet. I would not be telling the truth if I didn' t admit it took us longer to put up than any of our polyester tents. It is heavy so we found it better to peg out the four corners and then put in and stand it up one pole at a time. Hope you njoy it

Hi Tony
Thank you for your message, ooh please let me know how you go after your holiday, that was one of the reasons I wanted polycotton as I heard they were so quiet in wind and rain... its obviously true :)

We went to gooutdoors in Chester today and seen the bear lake 6 on display outside, it was very windy and all the other tents were making lots of noise but the bear lake was very quiet.
Not good for me though as the other half wants one but it's out of our league really. we only need a weekend tent but now she's set on the bear lake.

Congratulations on your new tent. I'm sure you will be pleased when you use it. The Polycotton tents are quieter in wind and rain than polyester ones. They are also cooler in hot weather (though the experience of that in the uk is rare this year!). Also, much less condensation. Tips:
Write bed and door end on the groundsheet to save time figuring it out each time you pitch. Also use a footprint.
When you take it down gather up the poles and the tent concertina style and the let it fall back to the ground. Take out the poles and then fold and roll the tent to fit in bag. When you then unfold it next time the poles are easy to put back in (I've posted more detail in th past on this)
Minor leaks may occur at first as part of its "weathering", so don't worry if they do (lots of threads about weathering on here).
Hope you get to use it soon!

We bought ours last week and have pitched in the garden...
We are having issues with leakes on the front pole seams...Good advice is to weather tent first as we had many leaks initally....Just left with 3 now that are quite substantial..
Will return to go outdoors as I'm not sure what to do.....
All the same the tent is a great design and feels so homely...We will defo get another BL6 even if this one is returned...
Enjoy the new home..
