Hi,

I recently purchased an Outwell Nevada M based on the great reviews I've seen of the tent.

After a weekend on a very went and windy Dartmoor camp site the tent has been excellent, except for a couple of leaks that I was very disappointed to see.

The main area that's leaking is where the pole for the side door hood prods in to a metal ring on the main body of the tent. This metal ring is on a flap of material, and it's at the base of this where the leak appears to be.

Here's the best picture I could get of the point of the leak. If you look carefully, you can see trails of water going down the inside of the tent.

Unfortunately I'd already mopped up the reasonably large puddle that had gathered on the ground sheet and under the sleeping area, so no photo of that.

Interestingly the other side of the door, where the other end of the pole is attached, is fine.

The tent was purchased from Go Outdoors. I'm sure I can arrange a replacement, but just wanted to check whether we're looking at a one-off problem or a design issue with all Nevada M's.

Anyone other Nevada M owners seen this?

Having a quick look it does look like it could be a leak.

I assume you had all vents etc open..? You will get condensation particularly if the outside temperature is cool and wet. Any warm moist vapour from breathing etc will condense on the cold tent fabric.

As a matter of curiosity what is the location of the second photograph in the tent. The way water has gathered looks more like condensation...?

It might be worth taking it back to Go Outdoors and see if they can exchange or replace the tent.

The clip in the second photo is the one that attaches to the bottom-left of the sleeping area.

We did have condensation issues, especially since we had to cook inside, but you could follow those drips from the seam to the floor.

Since my original post I've taken a closer look and the fault is now much clearer; on the inside the leak is coming from a point at which the thread used for the seam ends and starts again on a new bit of thread. Not only has some of this thread pulled out, but a large part of the tape over the seam is broken.

While I'm sure this could be repaired, I think I'd rather seek a replacement as the tent was brand new only a few days before!

If you are cooking in the tent and boiling any kind of liquid you will get a lot of condensation. As a matter of interest did you find the problem worse in the morning...?

Take it back and explain the faults if it is within 28 days they should give you a straight exchange (they will probably offer to exchange anyway)

Mine went back for a credit due to a leak in the main seam in the living area, the one in the centre part of the roof. it was where the material piece is for strapping to the centre cross bar inside.

Looking at your close up picture i would agree the tape on the seam has split and i would guess that is why you had a leak.
When you take the tent back try to pack it in such a way as to leave that area accessible so you can show them the exact spot.
Given the tape is not doing its job and it appears to be a manufacturing fault they should replace the tent straight away rather than the usual send it back to get it checked.
