I have just purchased a used Outwell tent from a friend - they included an Outwell carpet in the sale.
I have never used a carpet in my previous tent. I like to have a quick sweep up every day when I'm camping and it seems to me that it may not be as easy to sweep up annoying bits of grass/crumbs from a carpet?
Also, last time I went camping it was before we had children. We now have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and as most of you will know, along with children comes crumbs and other mess! Will it be easy enough to sweep up after them if we have a carpet down?
I have just re-read my message and I realise it makes me sound like some kind of sweeping obsessed freak - I'm not! I just don't like walking barefoot on a grassy/crumby tent floor...
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Yes they are :-) - I never leave without a dustpan and brush!
A few years ago we were in France camping and got talking to the neighbours and my daughter went into their tent and said - "oh my mum would never let our tent get like this - she sweeps up all the time"
Yes, I have an Outwell carpet and it's easy to sweep. Also, if there are any drips, leaks or spills in the tent it soaks in and doesn't spread across the floor as it would with a groundsheet. Mine gives good insulation and doesn't move about.
Thanks for the helpful responses everyone. Maybe I'll keep the carpet after all - was convinced I'd end up selling it!
Just booked our first weekend away in the new tent for a couple of weeks time, so I'll be able to give it a road test. I may invest in a rubber brush beforehand, so my sweeping obsession can continue!
