Hi, I want to put a carpet in the front porch area of our Vermont XL and have been trying to find one that I think will fit for some time now. In the review section on here Shaun123 has a HiGear one in that bit of the tent. So, if you're reading this, please can you tell me which one it is, or if anyone else has this tent and has found a carpet to fit, please can you let me know? Thanks in advance!

Kathryn

You should look at the photos EliseS posted in the mian 'under canvas' forum .. entitled something like 'Our First Camping Trip'... it's within the first few pages  ...

Anyway, I noticed they listed 2 carpets in their packing list ... and they have a Vermont XLP like us ... so I asked what carpet they used in the porch ... and they said they used the same one as for the main lounge area ... I guess they then just fold it ...

I assume it would be hard to get a carpet the right width otherwise ....

Ah thanks for that. Was hoping to find a cheaper alternative - or better still, we have a HiGear Corado 6 carpet in our shed and was wondering whether that might work..... if all else fails I think I'll have to try that though, at least it will match I suppose.

Ah Shaun, thanks so much for that! I thought maybe it was one of the Corado's. I think next time we go I'll use our Corado 6 one and see how that looks but in the meantime now I know which one to look out for! Will keep my eyes open for an offer on that one now then. I love your setup - you also have the same sleeping bags as us I think, lol!

I know exactly what you mean. We started camping so that we could have cheap holidays - turns out to be a very expensive hobby! LOL! If you see a bargain, try to post on this thread because I don't always come on the forums and am likely to miss a post, but I have email notifications on for this thread lol! And thank you!

I do have another question, just looking through the photos again, do the windows on your porch area zip open? I like where you have your cooker positioned but when I tried ours there I felt it was a little too close to the side and roof of the tent, but our windows don't open.... it was much nicer having our kitchen unit in that position but now I put it so that it backs onto the dividing door in front of the wardrobe part, iyswim, as there is a lot more clearance for us then.

hi kathryn - yes all my windows open even the lounge too plus there is mesh zips aswell  . have noticed on the 2012 version  no windows open , which  is a bit stupid  , as for cooking we like it next to that window  so the fumes go out,   what year was your tent made  ,  i can see why you moved posistion of your cooker as you have no ventilation in that area.   just got to say my version must be  perfect  cant fault it . outwell have put the 2012 version price  up and taken all the zips out very strange  im enjoying this conversation kathryn  tele is rubbish tonight - shaun

Ours must be the 2011 as we bought it last year, so they must have taken the zipped windows out for that version, our built in wardrobe and the dividing door are both green. I still love the tent but I do wonder why they took the zip up windows out - they used to be like that on the Monty too and they changed those last year as well. Ah well, looks like I'll leave the cooker where it is then, just doesn't seem to make the best use of the space somehow. Can't wait to get out in it again - mid-August can't come around quickly enough!
