Hi do you find the internal tension straps get in the way of you moving around the tent.
It's the only thing putting us off buying one

Can't speak for the Airbeam as we don't own one but we did have the Icarus 600 which had tension straps.

Firstly, you do not need to have them 'plugged in' unless it is windy. They have pockets that you can roll them up and store them in until needed.

Secondly, no we didn't find they got in the way at all. There are two sets of straps. the front set are just inside the front door and the other set are just in front of the bedroom inner tents, so they don't intrude on the living area.

Don't know if you have any tent displays near you but, if you can see any Vango TBS tent erected, you'll see how they work.

certainly the middle beam TBS would get in the way on the eternity

the two end ones dont but do look a little silly 17

but as ian said you dont have to use them and they pack away when not in use,

if it was a crazilly windy night and i were led in bed listening to the tent shake it would give me a little more reasurance with the TBS plugged in.

the rest of the time i wouldnt use them 17

How do they work any better than having the guy lines outside. (I know they have external guys as well).

I know there are some normal tents that use this system as well. 17

They effectively extend the guy lines to a point at the apex of the roof, forming a triangle with the ground.

I was a bit sceptical when we first got our Icarus but they definitely made a difference when the wind got up.

I imagine they are more effective on flexi pole tents and not so much on steel pole ones?

We was at Matlock camping 2 weeks ago when it was fairly windy.

A chap just down from us had an Airbeam and it didn't move. Some of the fiberglass pole tents were bent in two.
