Having bought a Wolf Lake 5 earlier in the year and used it for a 10 day camping trip to France, I will say "Yes, it is better". It does however fold up bigger and is heavier, but in my opinion a small price to pay for the additional comfort and quality.
Very happy with the Wolf Lake!

Got a Montana Lake Polycotton and it is excellent. Pitched it next to my parents Montana 6 Polyester for a week and the difference was quite a bit. Quieter, tighter and stronger thicker fabric really made the difference. Well worth the extra weight. As said before also great in the wind & rain. Also a great deal warmer at night. Parents complained of being cool at night whereas we were all toastie warm. Check out my review and pics for a comparison.

We would agree its better. Having got our Bear Lake 6 this year. It was used for the first time during Jubilee week and I must say during the strong winds and torrential rain we had at times it was better to be in than our Vermont L. Not as much movement in the fabric, less noise etc. We still havethe Vermont which we intended to 'use up' (ie until the fabric gave way) but given the choice I can't see it happening. We still have polyester for our weekend tents which are quite new so can't justify the upgrade to Polycotton there yet. As soon as the weekend ones need replacing they will then be polycotton tents. Cheers

id say yes.... if your allready asking yourself this question then you will proberbly never be happy with a normal weight mainstream polyester tent and will allways have a little niggle in your head longing for a poly/cotton..... nothing really wrong with poly tents but i allways feel a little more secure in my poly/cotton Why more secure? For fire safety reasons?

Don't own one but would love one as everyone says the feel and noise is far better than poly tent.

And along with all the rest of the crew, its a definite YES, having a polycotton wolf lake and canvas bell tent, there is no comparison really. Yeah, polyester is cheaper, packs lighter and may well dry quicker and be easier to air out, the benefits of polycotton far outweigh polyester (personally I wouldn't go back to polyester) Polycotton or canvas is warmer in cool weather/far cooler in warm weather, is much quieter, with significantly less condensation and in rough weather they stand their ground. We've camped with friends on a few bad weather (I mean wind) occasions and while they have been wide awake most of the night either securing or worrying about their tents, we have slept soundly, both are equally solid tents, but the Wolf Lake especially just doesn't move. I can probably guarentee that you wouldn't regret it. Best wishes Sam

Other than the additional size and weight of the polycottons (and it is eye brow raising) they are better that polyester by a mile for me.
Other than all the obvious benefits you read about (you know what they are..) there is something more reassuring about them as shelters.
Well worth the extra investment...

I now don't believe that polycottons take longer to dry. I noticed my Wolf Lake 4 dry very quickly when I expected it to take ages..
This was confirmed by the manager at BCHcamping who told me it was a myth that polyester dries faster.
Other opinions on that welcome

Outwell Norfolk lake for main HOLS,little nevada S for weekenders but certainly in the habitability stakes polycotton is great just take the extra bulk and weight into account!

HOWEVER I would add that a lot of people do start out with polyester (as we did) until the bug bites and there is nought wrong with that, but, wouldnt settle for anything less than a sealed grounsheet and stand-up height, we had 2 Gelerts (and a now deceased eurohike) that had neither and they would drive us scatty now.
