After this weekends camping at Shell Island we have decided the time may be right to buy a new tent. We currently have an Ontario 8 that we have had for a few years, where we only put one bedroom up so have Ooodles of living space. However, the tent can get a bit cold, flappy & noisy.
We love the Bear Lake tents, either the 6 or the 8 but can not afford the price tag on such tents.
Does anyone know of a similar style tent that's rugged enough to stand up to most weather conditions, that's warm and has the space, but wont cost us an arm and a leg

Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
As the Bear Lake is Polycotton you will struggle to find a cheap alternative unless you buy a used canvas or polycotton tent.
The cheapest new Polycotton will probably be the Montana Lake which when price matched JR Leisure with Go Outdoors you can get it for £539.99 If Go Outdoors add carriage just say you can collect from JR Leisure and the charge will be waived.
Problem is if you want polycotton you have to pay the price. As mcguire has already pointed out the deals seem to be on the Montana Lake at the moment. Your other alternative is to look around for a decent used one

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
The Kampa Filey is similar to the BL6 and you can sometimes get them at a decent price. There's a new one on ebay at the moment with a BIN price of £640.

Thanks for all he replies so far, I like the design of the Filey Classic 6 and the pact you can add the extra enclosed bit on the front should you wish, only downside is the awful ugly retro colours, would need to name the tent Betty.
Also looked at the Sprayway Valley 8 as thats very cheep.
