I was at Go Outdoors with my brother on Saturday and saw a couple of Freedom Trail tents pitched. If you want my honest opinion, I have seen kites made from more substantial material. Why not direct your SIS to Halfords? They have a half price sale on at the moment and although they are not the best tents in the world they are more secure looking than Freedom Trail.

Wouldn't touch Freedom Trail with a barge pole. I too have seen them flopping about in Go Outdoors. Worst move they ever made in my humble opinion. The material is so flimsy it is practically see through!

Agree, there are better tents out there for the same money.

Our first tent was the Freedom Trail 8, bought on special offer from GO - used it once and sold it. Good size but separate ground sheet and very thin material. My one tip for your sis is buy a tent with a sewn in ground sheet. We are now the very happy owners of a Gelert Morpheus 6, cost a bit more than the Freedom but well worth it.

As with most others I would not spend my money on this unless I knew it was

      a) for a one off camp and

      b) the weather forecast was perfectly warm and dry.

You would be much better off spending your £100 on a decent second hand tent.

Sorry to be negative, but avoid this tent.

I bought an Ullswater 6 today and to be perfectly honest, it feels no thinner than our Wynnster tent. Im actually quite impressed with the quality. It's certainly better quality than the eskdale range. Also for £35 quid, im not complaining.

Hi, I have (foolishly) bought a freedom trail eskdale 6 tent from eBay and I have some problems with the poles. If anyone with this tent could give me the measurements of the poles because the ones I have received seem to be too big.

My opinion...you get what you pay for..and I wouldnt be wasting my money on these tents if you hope to get some use out them.Buy a second -hand tent of a reputable make...plenty of advice on here.If the tent is for a taster camping session and the weather turns bad..it will leave a lasting bad impression-----buy a decent tent and the weather wont spoil the trip. Assuming the camping doesnt suit the family..a decent tent will have a re-sale value. other tents such as the aforementioned will have very little...browse the auction sites and you will notice how little they fetch. Finally I wouldnt settle for anything less than a sown-in groundsheet. Only my opinion..Good luck

A friend of mine got the smaller Airedale last year as a cheap re-introduction to camping after several years of illness. On first use it stood up to four days of almost continuous heavy rain and in spite of the waterproof quality being so low compared to other makes it didn't leak once. She has used it a couple of times since and it's been fine. The only thing I personally didn't like about it was the separate groundsheet in the living area, I would always go for a sewn-in one.
