Although I have camped for longer than I care to remember I have never owned a four berth tent.
I have usually had a 6 berth - 8 berth before kids flew the nest, or lightweight backpacking tents which I still have.
I am now looking for a four berth to give me standing height and a bit of space for table chairs.
It will generally be myself or the rare occasion my wife goes camping.
I think a simple tunnel 3 possibly 4 hoop design would be best if I am erecting it myself, preferably with sig.
I will probably look for a good second hand one and probably sell some of my lightweight tents that the wife doesn't know about..Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated..

I have a Robens 'Double Dawn', a 3-hoop tunnel design tent with full standing height throughout. It has alloy poles, two bedrooms and zip-in/out groundsheet. I can erect it solo (aged 68+) easily in 30 minutes. Check out my review and pictures here. I bought it for a similar reason - in case my wife ever wanted to go camping. I now know that that is not going to happen, so the Robens is for sale!
Thank you for the suggestions:
db195 - looks a really good tent,I am not to keen about a zipped in groundsheet, had some issues with an Outwell we used to have.
Bridget1 - I am a big Vango fan and own a few smaller vangos. Can you erect it solo, they are expensive but I could wait till season ends and pick it up for a lot less, new or secondhand.

Ventura 400? Although I haven't used mine, I have pitched it (to practice) and managed it alone. I'm only 5'5", average build, and it went up easily enough. Only three hoops, and surprisingly spacious once up. Weighs in at 16kgs, and packed with lots of nice features. Separate bedroom pods, so you can leave one down.
The Vango 400 is a great tent to pitch, I can do it solo no problem (in fact it is easier doing it on my own rather than with DH). If you are above about 5'6" you will not be able to stand fully in it though (have to adopt the cricked neck pose).

Have to say, Outwell Virginia 5, I may be biased but, I can put it up on my own no bother in about 20-30 minutes, it is a 5 man but I think its more a 3-4. Plenty of space in the front for a couple of chairs and a table and still space to move about. My other half is just over 6ft and can easily stand up in the middle.

I'm short, fat and unfit and can pitch my Licata 400 on my own in about 10-15 minutes. Spacious bedroom pod, SIG, massive windows let in loads of light, large living area easily accommodates table and chairs and general living gear, standing height and a doddle to pitch (only has 3 poles)
You can buy it new from Outdoor Action for £89.95. Absolutely love mine!
Vango Equinox 450 or Omega 450 all most standing Hight all most a backpacking tent very quick to pitch very wind stable . Me and oh wouldn't need a bigger tent even for a week plus .
I've just posted looking for much the same recommendation as you - easy to pitch 4 man. I didn't want to hijack your post but I am going to steal some of the suggestions. Hope you find what you're looking for :)

Thats the great thing about this forum, you can't get a better choice of reviews than from people on here, who own or have owned the tent or piece of equipment you are asking about.

Another vote for the Outwell Virginia 5. Yeomans have started selling this tent again. It gets great reviews and as Kate says, very easy to solo pitch. Only takes me 15-20 mins if it's just me and the kids away, even quicker if hubby there too
