Hi

Were looking for some advice on which family tent to purchase next. We currently have the Vango Colorado 600 dlx but it's just not watertight enough for our liking.

Were thinking along the lines of either the Lichfield Sandwood 4+2 or the Eurohike Primavera 6.

Any advice on these tent's will be greatly appreciated or alternative suggestion's will be concidered. We dont have a fortune to spend on a new tent and dont want to spend over the £250 mark and we would prefer to keep away from 2nd hand tent's. (Our colorado was 2nd hand)

Thanks in advance.

Outwell Bear Lake 4, Used

Second hand I know but it's a lot of tent for the money. £250 for a polycotton tent that's reportedly only been used twice.. Bargain if its in good condition. Bet it's gone at that price..

It may push up your budget a bit but the Kampa Croyde 6 is available for £375 including carpet and footprint. It might be worth ringing a couple of shops direct as you tend to get a better price as internet prices are more or less the same.

Casey Outdoors are doing the package for £374.95 so it might be worth calling SK Camping as they are doing a cracking deal on another Kampa tent (Kampa Frinton 4 Classic for £415 Including carpet & footprint). They will probably price match and give you a bit more off the price – no harm in trying. You can do a price match via the website

We camped last week and all fittings on our tent broke, after a 5 hour drive , we weren't packing up to go home, went to GoOutdoors and got Hi_Gear Kalahari 8, I was not a fan of Hi-Gear at all, but must say I was impressed, we paid £300 and luckily my brother is going to buy it from me as I have now got my Kampa Pendine repaired, as GoOutdoors have it down to £200 this week. (I will sell it to my brother half price)

Anyway don't dismiss Hi_gear the way I did, as they aren't as bad as what I thought, you could get Kalahari 8 and porch for just about your budget. and the reviews on here are great.

We have had loads of tents over the years all new, but I can honestly say the best one we have ever had is the last one we bought, a second hand Cabanon Aruba.

It is huge, very well made heavy canvas with polyester type roof, everything you would want from a family tent.

We paid £200 last year, and it is as new, came with the original reciept for £1000.

The only draw back is because it is so well made and sturdy, it is very heavy and bulky. But only to be expected.

Top tent.

As I've told my psychiatrist, you can't have too many tents.

Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies.

We thought about getting the Hi-Gear Zenobia but then i read the reviews and changed our minds. I really like the look of the Lichfied sandwood, but looks are'nt everything. I dont think we'll be rushing into buying a new tent ATM but it's nice to have some feedback regarding other tents.

I think the 600 will have another outing before it's done for. The next one will defo be as watertight as it can get.
