We have just returned from our second trip in our new tent ,this time we put up the vestibule as had more family with us. Anyway ,with no instructions we soldiered on and try to put it up. We thought we had done good and have spent most of our 4 day stay trying to put it back up again, and again and again and again !!!!!!!!!!!!

This has put a damper on it ,and we are so frustrated. Since coming home today we have looked on the Kampa website and seem to have done pretty much the same.So why ,each time you zip up is the damn thing sliding off the front. It did give us some great extra space which we lPlease can anyone enlighten us as we are back away the weekend for a week and really do want to put it up again (just once !)

Karen

Hi Karen,

Was the vestibule zipped closed when being attached?

Although I do not know the exact steps you took whilst setting up the vestibule, leaving the door unzipped could potentially be an issue as the vestibule would be set up out of place.

This has been mentioned before with the Filey 6 vestibule. We have the Croyde 6 Vestibule which has 2 straps either side which clip to the second tent pole and we have never had problems with this slipping off. The Filey vestibule does not have these straps so could it possibly be a design fault

Hi Karen

Snap we have the same problem which ever way we put the vestibule on it would slide off. The last time we used it last weekend we bought some plastic awnning clips and used them to keep it on. Fit the vestibule on then put the clips on we used the 5 which were in the packet 2 next to the center and spread the rest out . I do agree with arsenaldes it dose seem to me to be a design fault .

Hey thanks guys, its just so frustrating when you spend that much money,we were at our wits end with it and it makes me feel that I dont want it anymore. I have phoned camping world where we purchased it and they are on the case. Also one of the bedroom pods got saturated from below and cant fathom that out either

I wish now we had got a tent with a closed in porch, but i did like the filey 6 and that was the solution

Hi all

Its not the best design, as mentioned above the Croyde Vestibule has straps that run back to the second pole and this can be easily done on the Filey vestibule by using "Clingons" (look them up on google) and some spare plastic pole clips. I love the idea of using the same spare pole clips over the fabric and clipping onto the porch pole.

Ok this is not ideal but this will all waork well.

Gary

Hi Karen,

We have the Filey 6 Vestibule and can now put it on without it moving at all - took a couple of trips though!!  It lasted last week in Wales in really bad winds.

How we do it is let the canopy collapse against the tent then make sure we have the vestibule exactly in the middle of the canopy.  There is an elastic top which needs hooking over the bar but the most important one is the strap which is sewn inside the vestubule approx 3 inches from the elastic. This is the strap with the hooks which clip under the canopy poles at the front.

Raise the canopy tightening the strap as you go. When the canopy is fully up you should be able to see and feel the strap from the inside of the vestubule. It almost looks as though the strap is too tight on the canopy but i think this is the trick.

As long as the inner strap is tight you should be ok.

It just takes a bit of practice (ours came off a few times at first - very annoying!!!) but now stays on fine and is a great extra space. You will get there Karen honestly!!  Hope this helps.

Ann

I've found it to not be the easiest of things to fit, especially if I haven't done it for a while, but I've not had any trouble once it's on.

One thing I found that helped, which I wasn't necessarily doing at first, is to release the tension in the strap which goes across the floor between the two ends of the front pole.

I'd sooner have the vestibule than not. It does keep the horizontal rain out of what would otherwise be an open porch. And once you're used to fitting it, doing so's not too bad.
