I'd appreciate comments on your experience 'cos mine isn't good.
In 2009 I bought a new Khyam Harewood tent.
Within minutes of erecting it in the garden there was a nasty *CRACK* and one of the hinge/pole joints on the external end poles snapped. This was replaced with little trouble.
However a couple of months later whilst camping in fine weather and pitched on a level surface ALL FOUR joints failed. Happily I carry cord and know how to tie poles together. The joints were replaced with no problem.
HOWEVER each time the plastic failed at the same place on each joint. Having the replacement joint fail too gave me little confidence in the design and spec. of the part - despite Khyam claiming that they do not fail very often.
We haven't used the tent since but I'm now in the process of getting some metal replacement joints constructed.
I'd be interested, however, to know if others have had the same problem or if I've been exceedingly unlucky to have FIVE sub-spec joints.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
It is difficult to comment without actually seeing how you erect your tent that could have resulted in multiple failures of the same/similar issue.
However, none of the joints on my Khyam Excelsior XL had failed, and it had been used for a few times since I bought it in 2007.
