Bristol Camping has the tent for £829, just ask them if they will do it at this price to include the carpet and footprint... you just have to be a bit cheeky.

As an example I found the Kampa Frinton Classic for £415 including carpet and footprint from SK Camping (after I bought mine for £475 including carpet and footprint). The SK Camping website has it listed for £489. Unusually calling the shop direct seems to be the best way to get deals and web prices are not necessarily the cheapest price.

If you phone or email a shop, make them an offer, if you have cash tell them so...most will do you a deal, we got ours from Norwich Camping. As I said earlier we went for a Kampa Filey and came home with the Studland with Carpets, Vestibule and footprint for £700, I asked if they'd accept that amount for it, they checked with the manager who said yes if it's cash so off I went to the bank to withdraw the money.

Looking good folks......

I have one put by in reserve with my name on it, with another one all set up waiting to be inspected, and best of all, Muckerette is pretty much alongside me now.

If we like what we see in the flesh, the ten bob notes will come out there and then, and we shall bring her home....... roll on Sunday!! Woohoo!!

I hope this pollycottondoodah is as good as you lot reckon!!

I already have the Bristol price in my armour, plus freshly minted English coinage, in the hope of tempting them to accept even less.

I'm loathe to say which shop, in all honesty, as they claim to only have one left on the shelf, and presuming I do fall in love with her, as I fully expect, I won't be able to cope with having to wait while they send for her twin, even for just a few more days!!

Plus having to endure over a 4 hour round trip just to be able to actually take in the sweet sights and smells of her, I'll be dragging her out by her hair...... kicking and screaming if that's how she wants to play it!!!!

Sorry, am I getting a bit toooooo excited now?

Sounds familiar......we had the same Vango Icarus package in 2009 (that was about our 3rd or 4th tent by then). Thought it worked really well until one windy day in the new forest when I developed tent envy for those campers with Outwell tents with metal poles!!

Decision made - went out an bought the Outwell Arkansas 5 (as it had a built in front canopy and steel poles etc etc) - sold the old vango as a package on e-bay and got a decent price for it aswell!!

My advice - buy the new tent at the end of this season when the price drops, then e-bay your old Vango package!!

I do hope that Dangerous Dan doesn't mind, but I'm going to continue this story in his thread as it may well be more aptly titled...... hopefully!!!
