I'm going to be heading to Cornwall for two weeks in just over a couple of weeks time. This will be the first time I've used my New Soulpad tent, with this in mind should I put it up over this weekend and get it well soaked to weather it in?

I never bothered with my bell tents and had no problems with leaking on the first real wetting. If you havent done a test pitch yet though I dont see why you shouldnt get the hose pipe out whilst the weather looks like it will be good enough to get it properly dry again before you pack it all away ready for your trip.
I had the same consideration when first pitching out Trout Lake 4 although our back garden is tiny so we had to go with it as is..
Despite a fault with the tent (that made it leak in a specific area but that's a separate issue), it wasn't a problem at all.
I was advised to not worry about it as even the morning dew can count as a weathering in. We had a tiny bit of water near the storm door (very small patch) after a massive downpour and that was it.
That said, if you have the space and have never pitched it before then the back garden is a great place to get some practice in, and to give it a wetting down (a few times) before you go..
Ye I've already done a test pitching, done that within the first couple of weeks just too check everything was there.
I guess ill not bother then, the reason I was asking is because I have a very small garden, so would have too take the tent elsewhere to pitch it. Cheers for the advice though

On our first camp in it we had horrendous fierce winds all weekend and some heavy rain and the tent was fantastic. The bells really do hold their own in those conditions.
Our bell tent has never leaked either despite nature's best intentions.
Have an ancient ridge tent too - put it up first time in 20 years for two nights of rain and no leaks; phew! as i didn't want to dry it and my lovely camping rug over the bannister for days on end
Cheers for the advice guys, one thing you can guarantee of these forums if you ask a question, someone will answer. I don't think I'll bother weathering it, after all you've said I don't think I need too worry.
