hi last year we purchased a vango nevis 800 special edition second hand to give this camping lark a bit of a go and have to say have furraly enjoyed it so far did a 10 day stay in cornwall last year and a couple of derbyshire wk ends one of witch was very windy but am sad to say last wk on a holiday in cornwall we hsd a little disaster it was coming to the end of a very enjoyable time on the qurarryfield site in crantock (can really reccomend) when we returned to the tent after a day out to find there had been a bad storm the porch was flattend with kitchen equipment every where poles on porch bent but worst of all one of the tent poles had snapped and ripped through the channel it runs through so my questions are .can i repair it or can i get it repaired properly or would the cost of this be more than buying another second hand tent and would this have been as likely to happen if the tent had had fiberglass poles and not alloy .. thanks

Scottish Mountain Gear do tent repairs so you could contact them for a quote. Otherwise some one who does marquee or sail repairs may be able to help. Or if you want to try a repair yourself "gorilla tape" sticks pretty well
Weve stayed at Crantock many times really nice when the weather is good but very exposed when the wind gets up in fact even caravans have been damaged when the wind gets really bad

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Drop Andrew a message at AMG Customer Services info at amg-group.co.uk They are Vango's after sales repair section . Very helpful people, sold me a full set of alloy poles for my Tigris 800, I think the alloy poles are better than the glass, you were just unlucky with the weather. We or should I say the OH snapped one of the centre poles when we got home about 3 weeks back (drying tent in garden). How many sections have you broken? OH felt really bad so she bought a complete new set. If you are not too far away from Essex you can have some of the sections to repair you pole, really easy to change out the broken section. You need something like a bike's wheel spoke, bend the end into a small hook and fish out the knot. Once you have untied the knot just remove the good sections to the broken one replace it with the new and reassemble it job done. The poles I have are from the Nevis so no problem with them fitting, good luck with your tent.

thank for your reply you dont mind me asking how much was it for a complete set of poles as we have broken one before and just bought a couple of sections . i will have to give those guys a go and see if its repairable
They charged £35 inc delivery, can't see the tent damage being a problem if it's just the sleeve that is damaged. I think they would turn it inside out unpick the seam take out the damaged sleeve and stitch in a new.
