I have bought a Vango Icarus 500 Front Enclosed Canopy. I asked for 2012, but now I've got it home I'm worrying that it's a 2011 version as I know they have changed the width and I don't think a 2011 canopy will fit a 2012 tent.
So, without phoning them back and looking a complete idiot, I wondered if anyone could tell me how I can check as there is nothing on the packaging to say which year's version it is. Weirdly there's nothing on the Vango site giving the dimensions of the canopy separately either.
So if anyone can help me work it out, I'll be much appreciated.
It's a moss green front enclosed canopy and the sizes are : H200 x W315 x L270 Weight: 7.5kg
Thanks

Hubby has phoned them after deciding it was a 2011 version due to it being 315 in width. The shop wasn't totally sure either, but then reckoned it must be and said we could swap it. Hubby's on his way now. Not very impressed as they brought out the canopy to us, so we assumed it was the right one.
Let's see what he comes back with now. Hopefully the right one!
Is it not written anywhere on the outer bag/labels etc. You are correct in saying the 2011 canopy wont fit the 2012 tent as its wider. The weight of the 2012 is supposed to be 8.9kg while the 2011 is 7.5kg so that may provide a clue

I think there should be a little white label somewhere on the inside of your canopy that has a code on it. If the code begins; 'TEF' then it is 2011. If it begins; 'TEG' then it is this year

We took the canopy back, but thank you both as you confirmed that it is a 2011. The weight is less and the code started with TEF - as I remember trying to search for it online to see if that would help, but still couldn't find anything. So thanks for confirming it, as we couldn't believe that a camping shop would sell us an old model believing it was the newer model. Which made us doubt that it was a 2011 model and we must be wrong somehow.
As it turns out, the shop has decided it's the 2011 version, although they were a bit uncertain at first. All their canopy stock is exactly the same (2011 version) and they can't understand it as they believe that all their stock is from a delivery in May from Vango, so it should be 2012 models. So we've ended up getting a refund for it.
Glad you got it sorted, though maybe not entirely to your satisfaction!
With the best will in the world sometimes human error intervenes! I bet the shop is checking previous sales now to see how many other people they can expect to be phoning up with similar issues.
It does seem crazy to me that in this day and age identification labels can not be put on bags
